Not interested in the fight at 150.

Martinez hasn't fought under 154 in years.

Just fight him at 154. Come to the ring at 150 if he wants.

    154 or don't fight him.

Wrong. De La Hoya's previous fight had been against Stevie Forbes at 150, in prep for the Floyd rematch, which he was going to fight at 147 anyway. Manny didn't make him come down for anything.. when did any fighter ever dictate anything to De La Hoya? Oscar offered him the fight at 147 after Floyd pulled out and retired. Oscar was left with no opponent and he didn't want to fight a big welter like Margarito.

not to mention the was a rehydration clause in the contract. DLH weighed in at 145 and he was 147 on fight night.
Wrong again. There was no rehydration clause. Stop making up ****. There has only been one fighter I can remember who officially demanded a rehydration clause in a fight negotiation and that was Floyd Mayweather Jr against Winky Wright, not wanting him to weigh more than 160 on fight night. De La Hoya coming in so light was his own doing. He wanted to fight Ricky Hatton after at 140 or a WW catchweight.

Here he is saying it himself a month before the fight:
      http://cointry.blogspot.com/2008/11/...-pacquiao.html

His words are worth little bit more than your bull****.

However I'm not for catchweights. I want to see fights at an actual weight class. But Martinez said he would fight Floyd at 150, Floyd did not come out and make that weight limit.
He didn't invent the weight, but he did say he would never fight at catchweights and that they are for draining opponents to degrade Pacquiao's wins. If he fights Martinez at a 150 catchweight he basically **** on that win with his own words.

This is not like the Cotto fight, a small WW coming down a lb from his previous weight, with Pac going up 7lbs. Or even Margarito, a career WW fighting at 150, when the year before he weighed 145 vs Mosley, and when Pac weighed only 144.

It's only comparable to DLH, and arguably much worse as Floyd won't be moving up 2 divisions/12lbs like Pac did, and with Martinez being older and bigger than Oscar was, having to lose more weight than Oscar had to, and having not been that weight in 8 years - longer than DLH hadn't fought at WW before the Pac fight.

It will be 8-9lbs Martinez will have to lose from what he weighed in his last fight. Floyd only goes up 4lbs. That win will be rendered meaningless. If you look at Pac's catchweights (minus the one JMM demanded), he always had to put on a lot more than his opponents had to lose, yet Floyd and his fans love to **** on those wins. Floyd has fought at JMW before, against a skilled and strong DLH. He is a strong welter and can handle himself at 154. He's tested the waters and came out fine. Him wanting a 150 catchweight just says he doesn't want to fight a real threat.

So him saying he'll fight Martinez if he can make 150 is not demanding a catchweight?

You're right, you have to look at it objectively.

Pac went up 13lbs to fight DLH, who only had to lose 3lbs from his previous fight weight. Oscar was 4lbs more in the fight before that vs Floyd.

Pac went up 7lbs to fight Cotto, who only had to lose 1lb from his previous weight.

Pac went up 5lbs (tho he weighed 1lb less) to fight Margarito who had to lose 4lbs from his previous weight and had weighed 145 the fight before that.

For Mayweather-Martinez, Floyd will go up 4lbs, Martinez will have to lose 8lbs.

You see the differentials and who risked more? So why degrade Pac's catchweights, when they were more logical, while at the same time applauding Floyd for his hypocrisy?

Sergio might have offered Floyd 150 only to make Floyd interested it seems Sergio is desperate to fight Floyd. But dont mean Floyd should fight at 150 just cos Sergio offered. Sergio thought Floyd would be too scared as hes scared of Pac with the ped accusations.

Sergio has to come down 10lbs to make 150 and Floyd has to go up 3 lbs. Its just unrealistic and unfair its not even funny. Of course the fight should be 154.

Sergio should agree to 150 but just come in at 154 at the weigh in showing a blatant disregard for the agreement just as Floyd did against Marquez.

Lets see if Floyd goes through with the fight as JMM did against him

if they do fight, they will agree on 154. sergio will be 154, floyd will come in at 150. its amazing how easy it is to get everyones panties in a wad with just one little statement. its as if only 1% of the posters here know how the actual politics of boxing work, and the other 99% just wanna see floyd lose to ANYONE...lol

what we care about is the fight being challenging and it will definitely be a bigger challenge @ 154.
