  • Comments Thread For: DiBella Loves The Idea of Mayweather-Martinez at 150

Promoter Lou DiBella was delighted with the recent news that Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26KOs) was willing to entertain a possible fight against middleweight king Sergio Martinez (48-2-2, 27KOs) - at the catch-weight of 150-pounds. In an earlier report on BoxingScene.com, Mayweather discussed his willingness to fight Martinez - if the middleweight champion can make 150.

Martinez looks like a shell of himself and drained at 150 I bet DiBella will be singing a different tune, so will those who agree with this catchweight. De La Hoya at 35 had to come down 3lbs to fight Manny. Martinez at 37 will have to come down 8-9lbs. No reason why Mayweather could not fight at 154, he's done it before. It was not one of his best fights, but that's what ATGs do, they challenge themselves to prove their greatness. You don't do that by cherry picking easy fights with little significance for a win

The reason for catchweights is so smaller guys can fight bigger guys in a fair fight..Floyd cant make 54', and when he comes in at 150 he will not have any power like in the Oscar fight...Manny steward broke it down for me once before so Im cool with catchweights...its either this fight at 150, or canelo or cotto...Forget those bum fights, I'll do anything to see these two champions in the ring together
