Make it a 160 same day weigh-in like the olden days. Bob Arum brought up the idea before, but he wanted 150 which is ******ed.

De La Hoya at 35 had to come down 3lbs to fight Manny. Martinez at 37 will have to come down 8-9lbs. No reason why Mayweather could not fight at 154, he's done it before. It was not one of his best fights, but that's what ATGs do, they challenge themselves to prove their greatness. You don't do that by cherry picking easy fights with little significance for a win
DLH was fighting at 154 and came down to 147 to fight manny. That's 7 lbs, not to mention the was a rehydration clause in the contract. DLH weighed in at 145 and he was 147 on fight night. Pac weighed in at 148.5 on fight night.
However I'm not for catchweights. I want to see fights at an actual weight class. But Martinez said he would fight Floyd at 150, Floyd did not come out and make that weight limit. And Floyd only went to 154 to fight DLH because he couldn't stand DLH or his father who trained DLH so Floyd had been saying he wanted that fight since Floyd was at 130. He has not fought above 147 since.

Also, you have to remember back then Floyd was the hunter. Now hes the hunted. Theres a big difference between the two.

Before anyone calls bullshit on this, I believe him because it's consistent with something Martinez said himself in November.

"We are working on a long-term plan to stabilize my weight at 154 pounds in case a fight with Mayweather can be organized," Martinez said.
