They wanted March 13th, Mayweather wanted May 1st. Schaefer and Arum sat down, negotiated and agreed on March 13th. Thats how a negotiation works as far as Im aware.

Mayweather has gone in with a date and a venue set in stone without speaking to the supposed other side. Which leads me to believe that other side was never going to be Pacquaio.

He set up this May 5th date a long time ago, probably with a GBP fighter (probably Mexican fighter) in mind. Then ran to the media screaming Pacquiao's name so that it'd give the impression he did all he could to make that fight so the public wouldn't be pissed when he announced whoever he is going to fight.

Neither team really wants this. Floyd has just one-upped Arum in the media on this occasion IMO.

I remember that vaugely. Man, this whole fiasco has gone on for so long I can't remember every little detail. My memory is shot to **** as it is and I won't ask you to go and dive through articles. I'll take your word for it.

I see your point and understand what you're saying but I personally disagree with you on this one. I think at this point, Mayweather want's the fight. As does Pacquaio IMO. It's Bob Arum who doesn't want it. But, obviously, if Bob Arum stops the fight from happening then that's on Pacquaio.

We'll see how the next week or so unfolds.

One thing that I thought was a positive sign was that someone in Mayweather's team said they would be announcing their opponent last week and obviously that hasn't happened. So I can hope/dream they are currently trying to sort out a deal.

Mayweather has a GBP lightweight bum Robert Guerrero lined up already, that's why he can't fight on any other date but May 5th. Mayweather saw what happened with many boxers who entered the ring with Pacman, and wants to have no ring business with him at all. He said many times he's not in the boxing business to take damage. Floyd has never fought an opponent remotely similar to Pacquiao and he knows the risk to lose his precious "0" is very high.

Anyone arguing that they should wait until the 27, 28 and 29 are just not being honest. Who would schedule a fight a day or two before you have to report to jail for 90 days? The latest Saturday they could schedule the fight is the 26th. So a whopping 3 weeks is what it would take why not just move up the schedule of the construction and do it on Cinco de Mayo?
