Grade Roy Jones' resume

This is for you and dazed. Im ONLY talking about roy's chin from the perspective of him fighting the best fighters of all time pfp. Im not talking about him having no chin, or a suspect chin in his era. My entire responses are based on some posters in this thread who think jones in his prime would beat anyone all time pfp.

I feel that the way he went out vs tarver when he got blasted out is a basis to consider him more vulnerable vs fellow atg prime fighters. If dazed doesnt think it has any bearing on how those fantasy fights would play out. More power to him. I think it does, and on top of that, his mentality of appearing to give up
When faced with that adversity might rear its head.

And im not talking about trying to get up after getting blasted. Im talking qbout trying to fight when facing true adversity.

well, to be fair to roy and the royboys, and i know there's plenty of 'em, he showed plenty of grit in that first tarver fight when he got caught with his chin up in the air with the monster shot in the 11th round, and came back to gut out a decision win...we seem to forget that...got caught clean against delvalle, who had a strong punch, and got up to dominate...

against a hagler, duran, hearns, or any of the true atgs in his weight region...its as valid a question to ask could any big puncher touch dude that hard in his prime...tarver 2 tarver pretty much softened him up in the first fight enough to get him outta there clean in the rematch, but that was after the yo yo heavyweight thing, and that aged dude overnight...you could see that...

but hell, sugar took some wicked shots during his career, and feather fisted camacho got him outta there...do we say srl had a questionable chin...like i said, too much stock in this jones chin s***

Exactly, the same logic applies for Roy Jones.

Saying Ray Leonard had a weak chin based off being hurt and stopped when he was visibly past his prime is just a silly way to look at it.

Again, the same applies for Roy Jones.

Well to be fair Leonard was 40 and had not fought in the 6 years after a beating from Terry Norris. But you're right that no fighter should be judged past prime.

Fair nuff. Rememeber, my original convo is based on the atg pfp claim being made. So im not just talking about his weight class and if del valle is gonna hurt/stun him. There's some guys that are gonna touch that chin, and put h through some adversity im those fantasy fights. Roy boys claim all the time that there's no doubt he prime for prime would take anyone.

srl was a retiring and unretiring mofo...camacho was a smaller man than srl, and nobody thought he had anything to bother srl, even @ 40...srl handpicked him...

Second, you're basing it off one fight that occurred 15 years into his pro career at the age of 35. In spite of what you think, that wasn't the first time he got hit hard or clean in his 50+ fight career. Do that for any fighter not named Hagler and you could come to the same conclusion.
