Manny Stewart said Shane would have lost regardless, but his overtraining ffed him up in the mayweather fight.

In the PAc fight, shane was well rested and had a proper training camp. So there you have it.

Both Mayweather AND Pacquiao are very good regardless of how Mosley "******" at both. Why do we compare in a linear way? Why can't anybody argue that Mosley's status doesn't necessarily have to be relevant to both Mayweather's and Pacquiao's greatness?

As far as I do humbly believe, Mosley was obviously "gone" already in both fights with May and Pac. Should theses comparisons happened about 3 years prior to the fights, then it would have been different, obviously.

Then again, Pac and May were also had different goals, conditions and what nots - back then.

Moral of the story: LINEAR COMPARISONS are almost always impractical in sports. Logic sometimes does not apply and just have to find out in the ring (laboratory). The problem is that boxing compeetition nowadays is generally weak and relatively washed-out than say, in the early 80s/90s.

Too much emphasis as given to boxers and too many sanctioning bodies. There should be a simple unification of all boxing organizations and a very strong governing body inorder to faciliate fair competition. (Look at the NFL, NBA, MLB...etc).

But that's the nature of boxing nowadays and thus leaving it to the boxers, promoters and fans to sort these things out. And so unfortunately we would never know accurately and would often resort to fantasy match-ups and shoddy "rankings" and the mythical P4P hierarchy.

I'm gonna get flamed for this, but the Mosley that fought Mayweather and the one that fought Pacquiao was roughly the same fighter. Rewatch the fights, especially the first 3 rounds of each, and look at it objectively. People act like Mosley got way slower, weaker, and totally shot in the one year between those fights. Face it, he was shot in both.

Of course, Floyd gets a good deal more credit due to the timing and circumstances (which worked out perfectly for him), but calling one win great and the other trash is just silly. It was the same fighter. The only difference was a belt and a perception.

Mosley came up with his one last great performance vs. Margarito whose style is tailor made for him, a win that would boost up his stock significantly. A more accurate representation of Mosley was probably the one who fought Mayorga just 4 months earlier. Keep in mind that fight would be almost two years before he would fight Mayweather.
Even if it was the same Mosley Mayweather was smart enough to figure out how to hit Mosley cleanly. The same can't be said of manny.

I didn't want to however it's got to be said that Mosley fought Mora at 154lb, and so not only had to tactically prepare for Pac but cut weight appropriately. This is another fact ignored most of the time.
He was focusing on cutting weight? And, that means what? He fought Mayorga at 154 went back down to 147 to fight Marg, did he focus on cutting weight that time too? And, that meant what?

And, those weren't the only two times that Mosley went up to 154 for a fight or two and went back down to 147...WTF is this focusing on cutting weight nonsense?

Close to the same except one had better credentials. Another difference is that Mosley was coming off a great performance. Since your only as good as your last fight, one sought out a challenge where as the other knew what to expect; an easy victory. Even Freddie Roach knew that.

history shows being an older fighter and dropping weight classes NEVER works in your favor.

the mosley that fought mayweather showed **** stamina..he died out after i think the 4th or 5th round. if mosley kept the same momentum he had in the first two rounds then he could have gave floyd a more competitive fight.

the mosley that fought pacquiao seemed too hesitant to throw anything significant. he showed better stamina and was doing good by circling to the left and occassionally using the jab but he just couldn't do anything more than that. In other words, he couldn't pull the trigger anymore it seemed.

both versions of shane were pretty bad...only thing is the shane that fought mayweather was able to hurt him.

And Floyd was coming off a glorified sparring session. Don't see how Floyd had any advantages going in, Mayweather's been a part time fighter for quite some time now.
