Reading the Pac vs. May Resume thread got me thinking about a common WW opponent: Shane Mosley.
I'm gonna get flamed for this, but the Mosley that fought Mayweather and the one that fought Pacquiao was roughly the same fighter. Rewatch the fights, especially the first 3 rounds of each, and look at it objectively. People act like Mosley got way slower, weaker, and totally shot in the one year between those fights. Face it, he was shot in both.
Of course, Floyd gets a good deal more credit due to the timing and circumstances (which worked out perfectly for him), but calling one win great and the other trash is just silly. It was the same fighter. The only difference was a belt and a perception.
Mosley came up with his one last great performance vs. Margarito whose style is tailor made for him, a win that would boost up his stock significantly. A more accurate representation of Mosley was probably the one who fought Mayorga just 4 months earlier. Keep in mind that fight would be almost two years before he would fight Mayweather.
