Martinez is going to be 37 soon and he will also be coming down a weight class. But the most important reason? Nobody knows who the hell Martinez is outside of the die hard fans. Good fight if it happens but it's meaningless for Floyd at this point.
Floyd will be 35 in February himself.

the point of the beef with pacs catch wts are, he made a catch wt at 144 with cotto when he was fighting at 147. so why the cw if he is at 147? plain and simple he was looking for an advantage before he got into the ring. and thats just wrong

It was 145 and he was just coming off a fight with Hatton at 140, where he weighed in at 138. And, only was 2 remove from his fight at LW where he only had one fight since moving up from 130.

So what's the beef again and why is it wrong?

        • It's wrong because he fought Cotto at a cw for his own f-ckin belt. And he fought marg at 150 for a JMW title.

          That's the problem.

Lou is doing what he's been doing for 2+ years now- using Manny and Floyd's name to get Sergio's in the papers and sites like this. That's basically his only strategy for promoting his fighter beyond giving away 2 free tickets for every pair of socks you buy at Modell's.

Martinez-Macklin has been a done deal for months now, even when like a month ago you clowns were circle-jerking around the idea that Floyd-Sergio was basically done. Think about this- put yourself in Floyd's shoes. In order to fight Sergio, you would have to give Lou the same deal and power you give GBP. Would you really trust Lou to handle a PPV event of that magnitude given his recent track record?
I LOVE the fact that you trash Floyd for not fighting Sergio, even though he and his handlers have been talking to Lou about a possible fight, but give Manny a pass when he said point blank that he'd fight Martienz at 150, to which Sergio agreed, and than said he would only fight him at 147 lbs. I mean, it's laughable to be honest.

Like I have said from day one when people were talking Martinez vs. Floyd or Manny, if Floyd and Manny never fight Sergio, they shouldn't be blamed. Sergio is two weight classes above them. Instead, Sergio should be blamed for not fighting Andre Ward, who's only one weight class above him, and who said he'd meet Sergio in the middle at 164 lbs.

But, if you are going to trash Floyd for not fighting Sergio, you better crucify Manny for saying it's all good at 150, but than nope...only at 147, basically indicating "No way no how will I ever fight Sergio".

I don't think Floyd and Sergio ever fight, but if Floyd fought and beat Sergio at 154 lbs, what would you say prince??? No doubt you'd have an excuse to trash Floyd again.

Both Marg and Cotto are two different situations...Yes Marg BS....Now because the Cotto fight was for a title...It makes it wrong? Just because? OK.

I've never really had a huge beef with the CW for Pacquiao, but i can see where people are coming from. On a side note, it's laughable to see people saying "Well Floyd trashed Manny for fighting at CW, but then he's going to fight at 154 if he fights Sergio". First off, 154 is a weight class, not a random CW. Also, Sergio going down from 158-159 to 154-155 is not weight draining at all.

I never said Cotto was weight drained at 145 or that Margarito was at 150. Instead, I said Cotto was coming off a KO loss to Margarito, a win over Jennings to win another title (vacant title), and a terribel performance against Clottey. Cotto was past his prime-still good, which he still is today I think. Margarito was coming off a KO loss to Mosley when Manny fought him.

The only person who was a legit weight drained opponent against Manny was Oscar, who went from 154 down to 145 lb CW, and Oscar was basically like how Ali was in 78'-80' when Manny got to him, had zero left. But, why wouldn't Manny just fight Cotto at 147 instead of 145??? I mean, really??? Why wouldn't Manny just go to 154 and fight Margarito, instead of fighting at 150 for a 154 lb title??? Why did Manny ask for a 142 lb CW against Mosley in 2009 and 2010, when Shane had just come off KO wins over Mayorga and Margarito, but than chose to actually fight him at 147 after he was whooped by Floyd and looked god awful against Mora???

I don't really have a beef with the CW, but it should be noted that Floyd is willing to go up to 154 or 155 to fight Sergio, where as Manny said he'd only fight him at 150, than backed off that and said only at 147, which is laughable.

Oscar and Morales were the only two weighed drained guys that Pac fought.

There was nothing wrong with the Cotto fight.

Marg fight was BS on all levels.

Other than that, you might have made a great point. But, honestly I don't know why you wrote so much about Floyd. I don't really care. I'm not dissing Floyd. Floyd can fight Martinez at any weight he want's I couldn't careless on what weight they fight.

But, they're not even fighting anyways so it's irrelevant.

My post is just about the comment how the Pac-Cotto fight was just plain wrong.

It should also be noted that Sergio has looked the better the past 2-3 years than he EVER has. Sergio is a rare case, a guy that's in his mid-30's and looking like he's at his peak. If Floyd fights Sergio at 154-155, no bulls**t excuses to discredit that if Floyd beat him. Sergio is #3 P4P, looking better than he ever has, coming off wins.

That fact he made the fight at a cw weight for dude title is more BS in itself. Especially when he fought Hoya at 147.

Man I can wait for Floyd and manny to get this **** over. I'm tired of talking about these 2.
