  • Comments Thread For: DiBella: Mayweather Interested in Martinez if No Pacquiao

Promoter Lou DiBella told BoxingScene.com that he briefly spoke with the representatives of Floyd Mayweather Jr. (43-0, 26KOs), to see if there was any interest in fighting Sergio Martinez (48-2-2, 27KOs), the WBC's Diamond champion. Martinez would drop down to a reasonable catch-weight, like 154-155, to face Mayweather. DiBella has very close ties with Mayweather's business manager, Al Haymon, who also manages DiBella boxers Andre Berto and Jermain Taylor.

Damn this is coming from a third party not golden boy or top rank. Money seems like he really is waiting on pac. That is a good sign Bob arum just to have to come around.

Mayweather is once again doing what Pacquiao is too scared to do.

Sergio Martinez (48-2-2, 27 KO) says that Pacquiao's camp have now backed off of agreeing on a 150-pound catchweight, which in the past Bob Arum said he may be open to, after Martinez replied with a willingness to do just that. Now, Martinez says, Pacquiao's team wants him to weigh in at 147, and he cannot weigh more than 150 on fight night.
In other words, they don't want to fight Sergio Martinez. Period.

Floyd aint brave. He is just doing what he is supposed to do if he isnt retired. Its a natural fight the sergio and Floyd, apart from it being at 154. 154 is good but because Sergio is stepping down the real credit would have been at 160. , So Floyd isnt being brave.
