He is not elusive according to your criteria, but he is elusive enough according to mine, for reasons already mentioned. Keeps a tall posture, uses his jab as a range finder, keeping opponents at bay. Moves in and moves out with moderate footwork when someone is too close. Most big shots end up hitting him on the shoulder, when someone throws.

The idea that Louis could even get him in position to throw combinations at a consistent basis is ridiculous. You say that Louis wouldn't throw looping shots as if he's got a choice. He would have no choice since comfortable combination punching withing punching range would not exist.

Joe Louis has gotten caught plenty. Once knocked out, and knocked down at other times. Vitali hasn't, even in his most vulnerable fight Vs Lewis.

Seriously, this is all that needs to be said. Joe Louis vs. any Klitschko is a ridiculous mismatch, borderline circus act.

Herbie Hide, Larry Donald, Lennox Lewis

Vitali did much better against every common opponent.
Bowe beat Hide and Donald when they were undefeated and took their soul. Vitali fought the leftovers years later.

Bowe defeated everyone he faced. (44-1), and avenged the 1 loss.

Destroyed a PRIME Undefeated Evander Holyfield.

        Lennox>Bowe>Vitali

LL doesnt need any triangle theories, he has H2H over both.

Carnera is bigger, stronger, faster, more athletic & nimble than Vitali and has a longer reach.

Louis disposed of him in 6 rounds.

If the REAL Carnera gets dispatched of that easily by Louis, what do you think Louis would do to the poor man's version?

Also, could you imagine Vitali attemping to to fight in an era WITHOUT STEROIDS?

Both Klitschko's would likely be journeymen in Louis's era. Fringe contenders at best.

I was just about to post this fact.

Canera had a similar style like the Bitckos sisters

Just to point out, Vitali actually fights down to smaller opponents sometimes. He did it against Adamek for example and I recall him doing it to Sosnowski as well. He's very quick at leaning back though, and extremely hard to nail with overhand rights which is what did in Carnera vs Louis.

lol. Bowe had to suckerpunch Donald twice (!!) in the prefight press conference cause he was so scared of him. Donald had cuts in his mouth from those suckerpunches when he fought Bowe the next day.

Louis was not small he was a 6ft 2in 200-205lb puncher. The guy has the best punching technique i have ever seen.

Yeah, Bowe was a POS and little more than a borderline street punk. I think it was Rock Newman or one of Bowe's team on the Bowe Golota Legendary Nights documentary that exclaimed "why does this always happen to us?" referring to all the crap that Bowe seemed to be involved in in his big fights. Yeah, I wonder indeed.

Is it lack of enforcing proper Neutral Corner or lack of standing 8 count. Looked very sloppy like one of those Kimbo Slice youtube street fights in today's time.
There was no mandatory 8 count at that time.
