It's time for everyone to admit that Margarito cheated

Did you see Cotto's face? Margarito landed no where near the punches he landed in the first fight either.

Last night didn't prove that anyone cheated. It proved that Miguel had the perfect gameplan and worked on his flaws and it was a great performance. Period, end of story.

You also have to keep in mind that last time, Marg had 2 good eyes. You can't really base that he cheated on last night's perfomance, Cotto said he was gonna go for the eye and he did.

Plus Marg is not the smartest fighter, everytime he had Cotto on the ropes, he let him slip to the right side, Cotto did this about 10 times and Marg never realized it.

MOSELEY WON IT FOR PAC? Shut up man i was there last night and all the ******s were silent, cotto put on a boxing clinic, the fact he cheated has nothing to do with the way his eye held up but has everything to do with the facT he had no power with out plaster.

There's no leg to stand on any longer, the reasons just keep piling up. Lets take a quick look at why Margarito would cheat against Shane Mosley but not Miguel Cotto.

In the Shane Mosley fight, as we all know Margarito was caught for illegal wraps. Looking back at this fight we will notice that Margarito was a huge favorite(why cheat), had homecourt advantage, and all the confidence in the world from winning the biggest fight of his career. One of the reasons why he was a huge favorite was Shane Mosley, an old guy that most thought was washed up and done was coming off the Ricardo Mayorga fight where he looked very poor except for the last few seconds and like I said Margarito was coming off his biggest fight, a fight where most spectators considered Margarito some kind of monster.

Rewind to the first Cotto fight and you see the direct opposite. Cotto was young, coming off impressive win after impressive win, and was a 2:1 favorite coming in. Margarito was an after thought, this was Miguels coming out party. Remember Margarito before hand was fighting on Miguels undercard versus a guy named Golden Johnson. This was his last chance and he certainly couldn't afford another loss(already had 5 going in).

So why? Why would a guy cheat in a fight with all the advantages possible but not in the fight where his back was against the wall? A fight that he had to win?

Fast forward to last nights fight, more evidence. Margarito was landing the same punches and it clearly didn't have the same power behind it. Power is the last thing a fighters losses, yet it wasn't there. People are quick to point out that Miguel was still swollen but Miguel was swollen against powderpuff Yuri Foreman. The fight against Margarito has left his skin very tender and he's going to swell no matter way, so that argument goes out the window.

It's sad that he had to cheat, it really is. IMO, even a confession isn't enough because the damage has affected the way Miguel fights. It made him gun shy in the Pac fight and derailed a career that could of been legendary. It's sad, it really is but I'm glad the book is closed and Miguel can move on but people need to accept that on that summer night in 2008, there was illegal wraps used.

I do find it funny of how Cotto all of a sudden wanted to fight Margarito after he knew his eye was all fucked up but never wanted any part of him up until that point. Despite that, I'm a little more convinced that Margarito may have cheated against Cotto, but there is still no solid proof.

just cause marg lost doesn't mean he cheated against cotto.

truth is, cotto was boxing a lot better with better movement and had better conditioning and actually held and smothered marg more this time.

I still don't put a lot of stock in the whole wraps thing. What they found in his wraps in the Mosley fight was too insignificant to be the entire reason Margarito was such a beast in the 2000s. Add to the fact that wraps are always closely monitored by a lot of people, I highly doubt he was able to cheat in such a blatant way in the first Cotto fight.

What we saw last night was a man(Margarito) who has lost his legs, explosiveness and "pop" because of a few very severe beatings inside the ring, look unable to pull the trigger against a man who was clearly adjusted and used great footwork and even clinching at times.

Cotto always wanted to fight back in 2008 before the scandal. Then when scandal happen cotto said that margo wont make a dime of him .

How does last night prove anything? Margarito hardly landed anything compared to the first fight and Cotto still looked beat up. It's really idiotic to speculate because of the inactivity that he has had since that fight. I really think it's time for Tony to retire because man that eye has taken so much punishment his last 2 fights. No need to keep putting in harms way
