wasnt this a bigger ring and marg had 10 0z everlast compared to 8 oz reyes from first fight.....and i thought marg was coming on strong i had him winning the 9th and cotto looked to be bending

Sadism aside yes. Margarito lacks the one punch power to KO Cotto, he was way down on the score cards, his eye was sealed shut and Cotto was starting to land heavier blows.

Margarito was never going to win the fight, the only thing ahead of him was a further beating that could ruin his health.

Good Stoppage! Margarito eye looked terrible, the doctors justly stopped the fight for the safety of the fighter. Margarito deserves credit though for wanting to go another round but, the doctors were correct in not going by his word. Margarito is too proud to quit. Besides, Cotto was really satisfied with his victory.

I got goosebumps when Cotto just stood there in center ring, and not even his cornerman or any of his advisors came up to him. Just let him soak it all in.

We've seen worse with no stoppage (And where the fighter was not being aggressive nor coming forward or was trying to survive) and things continued with no hesitation, so you know the answer.

The stop was legit no doubt. But an extra round would have been interesting!

stoppage was fine. i think they should've given him one more round but i doubt margs would've went all out. he would probably kept the same slow pace he had throughout the entire fight. good stoppage, no need to take more damage to that eye. he was down on the cards and cotto wasn't hurt to point of being stopped within a round or two. if it would've went on, margs would've just gotten more damage to that eye and lost a clear decision.

I think if the fight would have went the distance, Cotto would have still won, but I do think it was a bad stoppage. I have seen fighters that were is worse shape then that and they let them fight on. Some of them went on to win.
