Were You Happy With The Stoppage?

Just want a general feel for what the folks at BScene feel. Great fight! Thanks to both fighters Cotto and Margarito for leaving it in the ring.

Marg did not prosecute the battle. He was there for the payday. That's it.

Putting emotions aside, yes it was a good stoppage. Margaritos eye was useless trash. Why risk his health. He wasnt winning, wasnt coming on strong enough, and started taking more left hooks each round. There was no point. The doctors did their job and had warned Margarito as early as the 6th i think. Margarito knew it was coming and couldnt find an answer for Cotto. No one should act as if it was an instantaneous stoppage, everyone knew it was only a matter of time. If Margaritos as good as people say he is then why couldnt he stop Cotto? Why couldnt he block his eye? I wish they wouldnt have stopped it so that Cotto could have knocked him out, controversy-free.

I think if the fight would have went the distance, Cotto would have still won, but I do think it was a bad stoppage. I have seen fighters that were is worse shape then that and they let them fight on. Some of them went on to win.

Well Gatti swells on the way to the ring. Another good one was Morales vs chi. Morales always had bad swelling.

hell no- Margarito was just getting into the fight and Cotto always gasses in the later rounds...

this fight was marg's to win if he dug deep enough.

I think they should have let it go one more round because it was clearly a good round for Margarito. Cotto was starting to show some wear on both his face and he was starting to gas out a bit.

However, I think Margarito lost the fight more than Cotto won it. I say this because he was clearly way too respectful of cotto from the early on. It definitely was not the same Margarito. So much so that when he finally decided to step on the gas he had lost too much ground.

Cotto looked ok, but he pretty much fought the same fight.

In terms of the punching power, I think considering this version of Margarito didn't land as many clean shots it is clear to see from Cottos face that Marg had the same power I.E. no wraps imo. People and that snot nosed idiot Max Kellerman act as if Margarito all of a sudden landed a huge shot and knocked cotto out in the first fight but it was clearly a combination of over 240 punches landing over and over that did cotto in on the first one.

All in all, Cong**** to Cotto and the fans he showed bravery where Margarito showed caution ie not enough bite.

The fight was amazing. I was going for margarito but props to Cotto for pulling off the win.
I agree with the stoppage, That eye was never fully healed. I think Margarito should've retired after the pacquiao defeat. It did seem like margarito was building some momentum but that surge just came too late, he had much trouble closing the distance.

He still had one eye he could see out of just fine so there was no reason to stop the fight. Marg was still throwing punchings and coming forward. It wasn't like he was running away and didn't stand any chance at all.

As far as Morales goes, it doesn't matter if he swells a lot or not. It looked like he had another head growing out of where his eye was supposed to be. There was no way he could see out of it and that is the reason why they said they stopped this fight. I could see if both eyes were closing but if a fighter has one good eye and he wants to continue, then they should let him fight.

Sadism aside yes. Margarito lacks the one punch power to KO Cotto, he was way down on the score cards, his eye was sealed shut and Cotto was starting to land heavier blows.

Margarito was never going to win the fight, the only thing ahead of him was a further beating that could ruin his health.
