Did Cotto Quit In The First Fight Against Tony?

i thought it was common knowledge that NOT WANTING to fight back anymore and taking a knee was universally considered as quitting

    but on this thread below

Talk about anything boxing related here. Where the boxing discussion is always Non Stop!

apparently, its not...according to a guy that calls himself a boxing genius, Cotto did NOT quit in the first fight

He was catching an ass whooping, so he took a knee and didnt get up because he didnt want no more of that ass whooping.

I like Cotto, but yeah he quit

Me personally... I think he got beaten to the point where he just couldn't fight anymore... the guy had nothing left... he was exhausted, his face was covered in blood, battered and beat, his legs had nothing left, he could barely stand anymore.

I'd say he fought as long and as hard as his body could let him.

I'd never label someone like Cotto a quitter...

At the end of the day, it's an opinionated topic, that's mine.

He certainly wasn't arguing with the ref/his corner that the fight was being stopped.

The 2nd knee he took was basically saying 'I'm done, get me the **** of here'.

            So yeah, he quit.

                  Finally!

Someone that knows the definition of quitting and getting beat until you can't fight anymore.
