I rank Marciano #4 just below Lewis. Marciano never beat a prime 200 lb heavyweight. Lennox beat contenders of all shapes and sizes.

Tyson lost to the two biggest contenders of his era, and didnt even bother to face the Mccall's and Mercer's of the world. He's also been KO'd 5 times.

          - Vitali beats any HW from any era.
Vitali hurt Lennox once. After that punch Lewis was basically walking through everything else. At the same time Vitali was getting blasted and was busting up more & more. The 6th round saw Vitali taking all his corner could handle. They saw Vitali was wearing out and taking more & more heavy shots (mainly uppercuts).

The cut was basically under control at the time but they wanted to blame the stoppage on the cut rather than the truth of them seeing a KO victory for Lennox. I had the fight even at the time of the stoppage. Lennox won the 3rd, 5th & 6th no doubt.

Remember, it was not Lewis who requested the fight to be stopped.... it was Vitali's corner... they saw those 2 uppercuts land with thunder and decided he was taking too much punishment.... Lewis was eating Vitali's punches like M&Ms after the 2nd round. His loss to Lewis was legit. TKO all day.

All of Marciano's greatest wins are over past prime fighters.
All of Lewis's greatest wins are over past prime fighters.

Both had about the same amount of wins in LEGITIMATE world title bouts and wins against top ten contenders.

Difference being, only one of the 2 were never KO'd by any C-level fringe contenders WHILE IN THEIR PRIME.

              Marciano > Lewis CLEARLY.

And it's not even really up for debate.

McCall & Mercer were barely even relevant when Tyson was at the top of the division, nor were either of them relevant by the time he got out jail.

Why would Tyson need to beat "the McCall's & Mercer's of the world" when he's already beaten several fighters that are greater than both of them?

No he is not. Now if he had fought Tyson in his prime and beat him then this argument could have been made, but he didn't. And whilst he still is an ATG, for that massive reason the argument of LL being the GOAT is shot down.

We are arguing over the #3 and #4 best heavyweight. I really dont mind if you rank Marciano higher as long as you got Lewis close by. I give Lewis the edge because he beat the young Prime champ of the next generation. Rock retired at 32 and was never at an age disadvantage.

Lennox would be undefeated if he fought Marciano's 190 lb resume'.

-Tyson has been KOd 5 times and didnt avenge a single one of his defeats.
-3 of those 5 KOs were against complete bums
-He didnt beat a single one of his contemporaries.

-he has no argument whatsoever over Lewis. None.

I think you have to ask about a great fighter if they fought any fighter ever 10 times would anyone beat them 10 of 10? As far as Lennox goes, I would say no he is capable of beating anyone who ever laced them up.

                      Lennox is up there.

Sometimes he seemed like he lost interest during fights and would stop working, but when he was focused he was tremendous. His height, speed, power and skills would have given any heavyweight in the sports history a hard time.

Regarding the Vitali fight; Lennox was indeed out of shape, he looked like he had prepared for an easy night. Still, even an old and unfit version of Lennox cut Vitali up and stopped him.
