I think he might be just that, arguably, when you think about it.
He beat everybody of his own era minus chicken Bowe. Everybody, and that includes at least 10 former titlists, some of which are former lineal champions, like Holyfield and Tyson.
He unified all the major titles.
Lost only twice, one being a dumb stoppage (McCall), and avenged both by KO. Two losses really isn't much if you compare to other past HW champs. Only Marciano has less I believe at 0.
Retired as undisputed HW champion having defeated the man who would be the baddest man on the planet for years to come.
He didn't stay around to see his skills deteriorate as most of the past champions have, like Louis, Holmes, Holyfield, Tyson, Ali, etc.
He is a nightmare for anybody in H2H matchups.
He was a freak of nature with power and skills.
