This should be on ITV or C5, Maybe BBC could buy it and put there strictly come dancing star Audley Harrison on the undercard.

I think Haye will settle for one hundred fifty thousand dollars or so for Vitali's tune up fight. That ain't so bad for a retiree's take home pay as long as Vitali takes care of Haye's hospital bills.

It's a fact the commentators commented about Vitaly sucking wind at the end of the 6th round. It's a fact Byrd was looking better as the bout progressed. It's a fact Vitaly was landing nearly 50% less of his punches than in all his other fights. It's a fact the German crowd was applauding Byrd for being so game. It's a fact Byrd made Vitaly look worse than any other fighter before or since. And it's a fact that Vitaly said to the crowd immediately after the stoppage "Im terribly sorry, but Im going to get my belt back". It's a fact he never got that belt back nor did he try rematching the former super middleweight who took it from him.
Some fans like to conveniently ignore these facts, but they'll jump all over Lewis for retiring instead of giving a rematch even though he WON.
Now Vitaly wants to fight a guy who was just shut out in his last fight and we shouldn't question the validity of it?
Melvina Lathan 88 - 83 Klitschko
Ruben Garcia 89 - 82 Klitschko
Joachim Jacobsen 88 -83 Klitschko
If Vitali had won every single round, the score would have been 90 - 81. One judge had it scored 89 - 82, which means he thought Klitschko won 8 out of 9 rounds. The other judges thought he won 7 out of 9 rounds.
The fight was nowhere near close. In fact, it was almost a shutout.Last edited by White_Knight; 11-29-2011, 09:41 AM.

it's simply astounding that Haye has been able to manipulate the boxing media to be setting himself up for a big $$$$$ fight with VK at this point -- after his disgraceful non-performance against WK, he should be treated as a pariah but instead he's allowed to act as if he deserves another shot....

They don't tell you that most of the rounds were close, that Vitaly WAS tired from missing so many punches or that Byrd was backing Vitaly up in spots and landing 46% of his punches in comparison to 26% for Vitaly. They don't tell you Byrd only landed 8 less punches in the entire fight in spite of giving up more than a half foot in height and a half foot in reach and they don't tell you Byrd was a blown up super middleweight. So riddle me this Batman, why would Vitaly NOT want to avenge this blemish on his record even though on the cards he was up, but he wants to fight a guy who was nearly shut out by his more timid brother? If I've said it once I've said it 100 times.....nuthuggers hate the FACTS!

Having a victory over Chris Byrd doesn't do a lot for a boxer's legacy. No-one esteems Povetkin that highly because he beat Chris Byrd. If Povetkin beat Haye on the other hand, people would think very highly of him.
By the way, Byrd may have landed only 8 less punches, but everyone knows his punching power is matched by the stockier 7th graders found on a netball court on any given Saturday afternoon. He would need quite a high number of those slaps to come out on top.
