You do know or really should know that a 37 year-old (not 38) Lewis, coming off the Tyson win and saying he would keep on fighting for a long time, with Emanuel Steward in his corner, was losing every round against Vitali until he managed to luckily cause a cut. This doesn't give any indication of what a "prime" Lewis would have "done to him". This fight was no indication of the superiority of skill or talent of either fighter at all. Any Lewis-Vitali matchup is a 50/50 fight.
Fact: Out of 45 opponents, no one has ever managed to dominate or outscore Vitali Klitschko, with only 2 men defeating him under lucky circumstances (Lewis) or with complete luck (Byrd).Last edited by Superflo777; 11-22-2011, 03:36 PM.

Like I said, they were both legitimate wins, but under lucky circumstances. No matter how good your defense is, you are not going to avoid all punches, some will go through, and one of them caused the cut which is a case of luck (you don't learn how to cause cuts in training camp). The Byrd fight was even more of an luckier escape. Vitali was leading on all scorecards, and feather-fisted Byrd couldn't even knockout an 80-year-old Vitali.

He didn't need to use the arm and you're saying Byrd couldn't knock him out, so him quitting isn't luck it's him not wanting to fight on.
Id rather have a fighter quit due to a fluke injury then one cheat to beat 185 lbs Henry Cooper or get knocked down by Chuck Wepner...a man famous for bleeding who said "I was ranked eigth in the world and when I fought Ali, it was the first time I trained full time." yep...part time boxers in the 70's were knocking down Ali and going 15 rounds and getting title shots...what a joke that period was.
