That is, until I tally up the score card. Pac 115, JMM 113.

It's weird. But I can see why the judges scored it for Pacquiao. He's the title holder. If JMM wants the belt, he's gotta go in there and take it. Not back up and counter. Pac was willing to engage but JMM would back up.

It became more of a chess match than a fight.
Exactly. marquez shots were just memorable.

    • I had it 115-113 for Manny.

What I noticed is a lot of those punches were picked off and block by Manny. Even that big right hand by Marquez was met by a short inside hook by Pacquiao (HBO replay didn't pick this up due to the camera angle).

Also alot of Manny's flurries weren't landing as well. Defense was definitely overlooked in this bout, however, I still felt Manny clearly landed more shots, dictated the pace in the championship rounds and won the fight.

I just think the hype Manny had going into this fight, combined with the perception of Marquez getting blown out, skewed a lot of fighters/fans judgment when it came to scoring this fight.

What most need to do, is to re-watch and re-score this a day or so later to let the hype die down and view things in a proper perspective.

      • "they could be swayed by the noise of the crowd, especially if the fight is held in the hometown of one of the boxers."

No judge, or fighter, or any other fight official alike, at the highest level of boxing in the world, should be even remotely affected by the crowd.

        • The problem with saying we shouldn't blame manny is that he brushed off people saying he lost and he said he "clearly" won which is a ***ing joke. If he was the true peoples champ and fought for the pinoys around the world he would have handed marquez the belt and told kellerman to interview the real winner.

          Shows manny's lack of integrity.

            • I disagree, the brits never acknowledged anything Pacquiao did in the ring. They only praised Marquez for everything while in fact the fight was A LOT closer than they made it out to be.

              • Are you going to sit there and say HBO doesn't have an agenda to push for Manny/Mayweather fight? HBO will become ridiculously rich off that fight. It's all about money to them, they don't care whats right or wrong

                100% true.

Too many naive people in this world.

                • Rocky you can't praise someone for throwing wild punches that miss. Manny was not effective at all.

Lampley was screaming on the top of his lungs when manny would land that leaping lead left hand which is like a tap punch but not even close to a hard punch. clearly if you are yelling about that and you are complementing manny's footwork so much its for a reason. The reason is manny pacquiao did not land many clean blows. He landed good flurries in a few rounds and that was about it.

HBO is biased pacquiao is their cash cow stop believing the bull****.

                    I really don't care about HBO's agenda.

However, while I don't agree with Lederman 100% of the time, I recognize his experience and knowledge of the sport (when it comes to judging fights).

Have you ever heard an interview from him when he talks about the sport of boxing, judging fights etc? If so then you would know he isn't one of those guys who has an agenda when it comes to things like this.

                    That's my point.

Also HBO doesn't hire the judges and those same judges can't hear a thing the commentators state, nor can they see compubox numbers.

I'm really don't get this "they are corrupt" or "they have an agenda" angle most are trying to claim. That's my whole point and if you feel different....cool let's just agree to disagree.

They seem more enthusiastic and passionate about the sport. Love listening to them call the fights and their pre/post fight analysis.
