I'll be honest though, a LOT of those rounds were incredibly hard to score, I could see a possible draw or a one round swing in JMM favor easily.
they were very hard to score. i also had about 3 pages of notes. i would pause the fight after every round and jot down my thoughts and i still found it incredibly hard to score. those who say that it was fairly easy to tell either are too pro marquez or too pro pacquiao and lack any objectivity.

I think the fact that pacquiao was finally in a close fight and the fact that it was a very pro marquez mexican crowd and given pacquiao's history of beating mexican fighters, the fans were very eager to say that marquez definitively beat pacquiao when the film and the statistics say otherwise.

i would have say you would be accused as a ******* if you were not a mod..

but pac really won clearly this time compared to the 2nd fight.. i would attest to that..

pac set such a high standard, the reason why others claim he lost such close fight like this..

      • In light of JMM-Pac III what do YOU put biggest emphasis on when judging a fight?

I tend to score who is landing the cleaner blows and is proving more accurate in addition to if someone seems to be dictating the proceedings.

I tend not to score workrate unless it is EFFECTIVE workrate, i.e. landing a high percentage of shots.

That's what I've been saying! He missed EVERYTHING swinging wildly.
Marquez, however, landed some good shots and showed great defence like he did throughout the entire fight.

              • High workrate is by nature going to be less accurate than a measured workrate though.

It's simple for me. Forget ring generalship, defense, aggression, all of that only matters in a close round where you need to separate them. It should come down to who was landing the most clean punches.

It seems like Pac was given the benefit because he was "the aggressor" when Marquez should've been given more credit for ring generalship. Manny certainly got the "star treatment" here in terms of scoring from the judges.

                  • 116-114 official. a close 1 round fight.

                    OK, here it comes!

Everybody needs to stop faking the funk.

First off, I'm white and caucasian.

Second, Marquez and Pac are both my nicca's.

Third, everybody should understand Central America (mexico + Latino's) is essentially the heart of boxing, and as such, naturally, Marquez is technically the 'people's champ' ... if you get what i'm saying ...?

Originally, I thought Pac won by 1 round ... just my gutt feeling.

My official scoring, as follows, is after watching the fight 3 times. A couple individual close rounds were watched 5 times.
I have sharps eyes, and my scoring is, truthful, un-biased, and laser precise, fair and official. Period.

                    Round 1: 10-9 Pac

                    Round 2: 10-9 Marquez

Round 3: 10-10 Even, conceivably could have went to Pac. Even though.

Round 4: 10-9 Pac. SOLID Pac round

Round 5: 10-9 Marquez. SOLID Marquez round

Round 6: 10-9 Pac. Close round, but Pac edged it out.

Round 7: 10-9 Marquez. SOLID Marquez round

Round 8: 10-9 Marquez. Close round, Marquez edged it out though.

Round 9: 10-10 Even, concievably could have been Marquez's

Round 10: 10-9 Pac. Close, but Pac edged it out.

                    Round 11: 10-9 Pac.

Round 12: 10-9 Pac. This round was a stinker. Pac edged it out + work rate and aggression.

... rounds 3 and 9, although even by my estimate, possible got scored for pac and marquez respectively ..... essentially a 'push'

                    So we end up with:

                    1 pac
                    2 marquez
                    3 even
                    4 pac
                    5 marquez
                    6 pac
                    7 marquez
                    8 marquez
                    9 even
                    10 pac
                    11 pac
                    12 pac

This is 116-114 for pac. 2points difference means 1 round.

Originally, i thought pac won by 1 round

Pac won a close fight, like it was offically, there is no robbery.

On top of the win for Pac, he got brownie points for being the aggressor.

Marquez is still my nicca too though.

                    Another drawish fight.

Marquez gave the fight away starting in the 9th. Marquez *could* maybe have won the fight with a little more 'oumph'. But Marquez definately lost. Definately.

                    WHAT ARE YOUR SCORES?????

Thank for listening to my rant, in closing, remember one thing, 'and take it to heart' ..... you have to TAKE a champions belt from him, you can't ASK for it!!

Marquez 'asked' PAC for the belt, Pac said no, i'm keeping that ****!!!

I realize the heart of boxing is mexican's and latino's, but for the love of boxing guys, stop faking the funk. Marquez lost a close fight, Close fight.

Pacquiao won 'clearly' in another razor thin contest, But he definately WON.

Marquez could have gotten a draw, with a strong 12th round, but he didn't, he lost the fight by 1 round.

On the really, really, bright side, i think mayweather will finally sign the contract.

                    Bring on Pac and May!!
