lol, cotto has a lot of fans, a lot. next to pac and floyd id say he has more than any other active boxer. thats why. but the truth is his fans even kno that cotto isnt wat he was and that hes undersized at 154 so they hide.

i agree for sure, but other fighters at 154 wouldn't see it as that. he's active, he's got a belt, they'd expect him to fight the best around no matter his age. in all honesty i wouldn't mind seeing cotto go back down to fight someone like berto or ortiz. i think he's fully capable of beating them. first he needs to get past margs before making any assumptions though.

How could anyone watch that fight tonight and think Kirkland does anything but get KTFO by Cotto? It's a good thing you guys aren't paid by promoters to be match makers

Angulo looked like he was punching in slow motion, think Lampley said it was like he was throwing punches under water... and he was landing on James. Cotto would break him down with his jab and finish him off in the later rounds. Kirkland has no technical skill whatsoever, just an average brawler with ok stamina and a questionable chin.

Easy fight for Cotto, hope it happens when he gets past Tony.

Oh my god, that would be a slaughter unless the Kirkland that fought Ishida got in the ring with Cotto. But even then, I doubt Cotto could beat that louzy version of Kirkland we saw. Kirkland would rip Cotto apart with those uppercuts which is he is a sucker for.

The outcome of Cotto/Kirkland all depends on how Cotto handles Margarito. Margarito has a 4 inch height and 6 inch reach advantage over Cotto, while Kirkland has a 2 inch height and 3 inch reach advantage. They have similar styles, with Kirkland being a little more wilder and aggressive but is also more susceptible to being caught with incoming punches and has a worst chin. I don't think he has as much stamina as Margarito either, but he has the heart. Cotto does have counter-punching ability and an uncanny sense of timing, which would help him against Kirkland's non-stop style, but he would have to watch out for the uppercuts. Kirkland also showed that he can box if need be, but that's only cuz Angulo wasn't much of a threat at that point. If Cotto handles Margarito, he'll handle Kirkland. I should've chosen Not Sure, but I said **** it and chose Cotto cuz I didn't feel like being on the fence. Would like to see it, but it ain't gonna happen, as he's a high-risk low reward fight.

And another thing, Angulo looked old, sickly almost. He really underestimated Kirkland cuz he didn't look physically or mentally prepared. When you throw about 100 punches in a round, it shows the inexperience and the ******ity on Angulo's part. Whatever happened to having some self-control? Angulo basically gave the fight to Kirkland, but Kirkland was like "**** that, I'ma take it from you!" and TKO'ed his ass lol

I said this before and after the Ishida fight, Kirkland runs through Cotto. Cotto would try to box and back peddle his way to a decision, but Kirkland's relentlessness, strength, and ofeense would have him put a savage beating on Cotto.

It's a waste of time to talk about it because Bob Arum nor Cotto's team would never allow that fight to happen.

I GUARANTEE you that after watching the fight tonight, Bruce Trampler will be telling Arum to make that fight ASAP if Cotto gets through Margarito, which he should. I honestly don't see what Kirkland did well tonight that makes you think Cotto would be worried about him.

Guy has no chin, eh stamina, absolutely no defense, no footwork. He's just a crude brawler with a glass jaw. Cotto boxes his ears off and ends the night around the 9th or 10th. Angulo is possibly the slowest JMW I've ever seen and he was landing clean shots on James all night, put him on his ass and almost put him out of his misery in the first round (after pillow fisted Ishida already did).

Cotto's jab would rearrange his face and those left hooks to the liver would sap him of any gas in the tank, then everything after that is academic.

                  lol @ The Prince

only reason he likes Cotto is because Pacquiao beat him and it makes Manny's accomplishments seem better when his past foes keep winning.

Cotto. Kirkland has the style to bother Cotto in the later part of the fight, BUT! Cotto is a very good counter puncher and we know Kirkland walks into shots all the time trying to get his own in. There's a strong possibility for an early KO/mid-round KO in favor of Cotto IMO. The only problem i see is Cotto not going for the kill after he knocks Kirkland down in the first rounds. I think Cotto should capitalize if he ever gets to seriously hurt Kirkland by using accuracy and speed, just pick his shots.

Cotto's accurate and hard jab would neutralize Kirkland's advance all night long as long as Cotto has the stamina for it. Coupled with cotto's ability to work the body, Kirkland could be cringing in liver pain by the 9th.
