At least Ruiz is honest about what he does. He knows he isn't Ray Robinson, but he has certainly made the most of his talent.

      hmm

      Again....

the man has obtained most of what he has with an illegal, disgusting style....& CONNECTIONS.

Actually, supe.....it takes boxing insight to see what a farce he is.
      Cynicism more like it.

Almost everyone in the heavyweight division gets a shot due to connections. If John Ruiz is a farce, everyone is. Connections or not, Ruiz still got the job done on most occasions. Anyway, with Don king running the show everyone is connected.

It's a completely different story when one of the little guys comes up to your level and busts your **** up for 12 rounds. Toney did far more in his win than did Roy.

Agreed upon. Anyone who says differently will get a dose of Ruiz' bruised ribs and busted nose pictures.

          hmm

Roy won every round vs Ruiz except maybe one. Toney lost a few rds to Ruiz. Additonally, the one time that Roy hurt Ruiz was not in the 3rd round and more importantly, the one time he hurt Ruiz he hurt him more than Toney ever did. Ruiz's legs wobbled and looked in some serious ****.

Ruiz slipped vs Toney as seen on the tape, but anywho.

              Bozo pics please...

I scored both fights 9-3. Toney clearly busted Ruiz up...and it's foolish to think that Roy carried more power at HW than Toney does now.

Toney gave Ruiz the worst beating he's ever had in his career. Tua knocked him out and it was done, but Toney pummeled the guy over 12 rounds.
Wasnt much of a beating. Ruiz did better than most people say. It wasnt a blowout like it was against Roy

I got all the pix you need and then some. And Toney was never known to be any more of a power puncher than RJJ. Even if he is, it didn't show in the Ruiz fight. I'm sure if Roy landed as many shots on Jirov as Toney did, the results would have been equally damaging.

That's the thing...Roy didn't have the chin nor the balls to hang in and land 400 punches on Jirov.

I don't think I could ever fathom Jones knocking out Michael Nunn either.

I can't see HW Roy Jones knocking out Evander Holyfield either.

                      hmm

LOL...what? Who needs balls when you got skills. Come on, man, you cannot be serious. KO of Holyfield means something? Holyfield didn't even take that much of a beating before he succumbed. A prime Holyfield would bust Toney the **** up. I could just as easily say Toney doesn't have the will to step away from the buffet table to actually be able to use his feet now and then. He stays on the inside because he is lazy. Roy would not have a close fight with Jirov like Toney did (or should have if not for crap scoring, Manny and co. believed he desperately needed a knockdown to ensure the win).

I don't think I could ever fathom Jones knocking out Michael Nunn either.
I can't fathom Roy getting outboxed by Nunn for 10 rounds. But, if Toney could KO him, Roy could as well with that same perfectly placed punch.

But anywho, we've been through this debate before and I know it will go nowhere. lol...I'll just go ahead and leave. I know better now I think.

I still like James Toney, for the record.
