Both guys are guilty of staying in one division. But Joe has tons more title defenses to show for it.

Jones jr NEVER beat a Unified, Undisputed, or Linear Champion in his whole career. Think about that for a second.

No! Jones destroyed everyone at middleweight went upto super middle, light heavyweight & heavyweight, winning major world titles at each weight whilst Joe stayed in Cardiff fighting bums.

Tons more title defenses? I don't think so.

roy jones jr has NO legacy at 160,,168,,175 or over 200 pounds because he never fought the elite fighters at any weight division he boxed in.

roy jones jr won a vacant middleweight title and made 1 defence he never fought the best at 160 at that time
              John David Jackson
Chris Pyatt and he Ducked the two elite fighters of the division Julian Jackson and Gerald McClellan

A list of the elite fighters at 168 that roy jones was Ducking when he was in that division
              Graciano Rocchigiani
Steve Collins 2 weight champion at the time
Nigel Benn 2 weight champion at the time
Michael Nunn 2 weight champion at the time
chris eubank 2 weight champion at the time
              Charles Brewer
              Frankie Liles
              Robin Reid

BEST at 175 was Dariusz Michalczewsk
roy jones won the vacant wbc title vacanted by Fabrice Tiozzo.
Fabrice Tiozzo lost his wba title to Virgil Hill then came back and beat Mike McCallum for the WBC light heavyweight title.

Dariusz Michalczewski beat Virgil Hill for the undisputed light heavyweight championship and holds the record for the most consecutive successful title defenses at light heavyweight 23 defenses. He was champ for 9 years an had a incredible 48 and 0 winning run

roy jones ducked prime Dariusz Michalczewski for 8 years and did not fight him even when he was shot

why did jones fight 35yo taver instead of Michalczewski?...........

why did jones fight ruiz instead of lennox lewis?..........

roy jones legacy will be remembered as the most protected fighter in history and a drugs cheating, chinny weight hopper that ain,t got a division to claim

              Dariusz Michalczewski
              joe calzaghe
lennox lewis and bernard hopkins can all claim to be the best fighers in their divisions history.

Too the people that hype on about prime jones jr take off the rose tinted glasses he lost too a bunch of old guys anyway
              Antonio Tarver was 35
              Glen Johnson 35
              Danny Green 35
Bernard Hopkins 45 and joe calzaghe was 36 and at the very end of his career.

He didn't have to fight half those guys, half those guys lost by K.O to guys Jones was toying with. Dariusz Michalczewski spent his whole career in Germany fighting Roys left overs! Roy savaged them & they was never the same again then Dariusz picked up what was left of them LMFAO! As soon as Dariusz left Germany he got battered into retirement.

He fought Roys left overs & one of them, was it Tiozzo? beat the **** out of him.

Lennox Lewis? Now you are clutching at straws. Wasn't Lewis retired when Roy went upto heavyweight? hahaha!

Cesar Rene Cuenca is 41-0 with 1 K.O LMFAO!

A prime Roy would of knocked Calzaghe spark out.
bad example. Cuenca is an all time great.

toney was #1 when he beat him.
tarver was #1 when he beat him in the first fight.
hopkins became #1 after he lost to jones.

that's 3 elite fighters right there in 3 divisions. nobody fights elite fighters anymore. boxing is broken. roy jones resume is pretty good compared to the sissies of today.

guilty? nothing wrong with staying in a division and light heavy was already jones third division. jones fought many more top 10 ranked fighters than calzaghe ever did and in much less time. title defenses don't matter if you are fighting mostly bums.

jones fought everyone in the top 5 during his run except dariusz and rocchigani and those guys didn't want to travel and either did jones. calzaghe never fought these guys in the top 5 liles, beyer, girard, tate, echols, lucas, mundine, green, bute. a very long list but what do you expect from the guy who said "i don't want tough fights"
