Hmm I think this may not be for Marquez at all and more for Mayweather. Roach may have seen something in the Mayweather Ortiz fight that he wants to try and exploit, and Marquez is the crash test dummy that hes gonna try this out on. I think it makes a lot more sense.

What they really need to worry about and what they are actually working on is countering the straight right. It was in one of Pac's Baguio workout vids, he was smacking up the heavy bag, Roach stepped in and had him shift to his right when he (Roach) threw a right. let me see if I can find it:

        (about 2:10)

Anyway, just mental games from Freddie. They want to surprise JMM with their new tactic.
This seems like a very perceptive take on what Roach is really up to here. He obviously wouldn't let his main tactical adjustment become public.

Marquez is the first guy in a while who will try to outbox Pac. The others who have tried and failed arent naturally slick fighters and prefert to fight whereas Marquez has a good boxing brain.

The last time Pac did meet a good boxer was probably the last fight with Marquez. Diaz was a poor champ, Oscar was finished. Hatton had no tactical awareness. Cotto was coming off that damaging defeat to Marag and a brusing fight with Clottey. Clottey came to survive. Marg was a washed up Mosley leftover and Shane hadnt won in years and also came to survive but he did cause Pac problems with his movement.

Marquez isnt as washed up as Shane and if he gets that distance right again like he did in the last two fights, this will be another long interesting fight. Marquez has good timing despite his age and slowing reflexes.

This weight suits Pac though which is the deciding factor for me. He is a different animal to the one who struggled with Marquez years ago

Roach should be replaced. Does more talking than training.

his talking is actually part of his job. he's basically talking for two since Pac refuses to trash talk and roach does it for him.

as long as he continues to train and improve Pac, he can talk all he wants IMHO.

Marquez took a shellacking against Katsidis. He's slowing down. If Manny hits him half as much, he's going to bed.

Did you watch the fight, Marquez put on a show, some of the best combination punching I had ever seen.

Fought Katsidis's fight, fought on the inside and dominated Kats.

...Right hook roll under constantly on 24/7 led to "same move everytime" led to that "same move" KO'ing Ricky.
