I know what we've all seen after studying replay after replay, but in the moment, obviously things weren't clear. And no, the ref is supposed to start the time and then the fight. Not blaming Floyd because Cortez told him to fight, just pointing out yet another one of Cortez's **** ups.

Cortez shouldn't be allowed to referee period. He continually screws fighters over and loses control of fights. He has no idea what he's doing, clearly time to take him to the backyard and put him down. As ref of course...

For some reason he doesn't seem to do too badly during smaller fights, it's during these big ones where there is more pressure where he seems to lose control. So I think he can be allowed to referee fights, just not anything near the caliber of fights he's been getting.

Watch Bayless when he ref'd Morales and Cano, when he break the fight, he said TIME IN first then BOX (or whatever).

The thing with Cortez, he clearly said LET'S GO with hand gesture. But there was a foul committed, not just a tangle up where you break it and signal with hands. That's why the time was out, it didn't even resumed but the fight "was going on" when FMJ punched.

The question is, did he say TIME IN? and should that come FIRST before saying/signalling boxers to BOX or LET'S GO? Because again, time was out because of the foul.

If the hand gesture from Cortez wasnt enough to hint Ortiz that the fight had started, ide say that left hook from Floyd should have done the job. I mean why whould you look at the ref?? put your hands up or start throwing ffs!

I don't put 100% of the blame on the ref. If you've seen round 8 of Floyd vs Shane and round 1 of Floyd vs Gatti(R.I.P) a similar thing happened. In this case it ended the fight hence there are these debates. I'm one of the people who feel robbed, I still wanted to see more. Also, I feel Ortiz could have made the count but he wanted a way out of the fight.

There was a pause of a second between Floyd's left hook and the straight right - why didn't Ortiz cover up then.

Ortiz is the one that robbed.

if he CLEARLY said LETS GO with a HAND GESTURE to FIGHT, then how can there be a foul committed?

                    you just contradicted yourself, COMPLETELY.

'time in' means start of the fight . Ortiz already quit even before KO , was looking to bail himself out of mismatch .
