Could Cortez please not work any more fights. The outcome of this fight would not been the same had Bayless been the ref. Fair but firm needs to find a vocation that does not demand his full attention. His performance as a ref reminds me of pro wrestling when the referee is knocked unconscious and suddenly comes to to count out the good guy. Enough is enough

actually i don't know, i don't even think cortez did anything wrong. . ortiz went out of his way to "hug floyd" after trying that BLATANT CHEAP ****. . . ortiz got what he deserved. . . well done floyd, WELL DONE SIR. . . floyd was shutting him out, and ortiz couldn't even hit him cleanly when he did get him against the ropes. . . no rematch, please. . . PACQUIAO OR BUST. . . only suitable option would be amir king khan. . . but PLEASE PACQUIAO!

Thanks for the fellas showing the vid of the 4rth round, even more evidence that Cortez put his hands together saying fight, doesn't matter if he was talkin to the judges after , he signaled fight! hes not the one fighting! than Floyd basically returned the favor using his experience in the ring! Point Blank! FLoyd won the fight fair and square! Sure boxing fans didnt want to see a fight of this magnitude end this way, but that is why its Boxing...anything can happen at any moment..

Fair??? Legal yes but since when a suckapunch is fair? Its unsportmanship and the definition of sportmarship

            sports·man·ship (spôrtsmn-shp, sprts-)
            n.
            1. The fact or practice of participating in sports or a sport.

Way to give the fans their moneys worth, by sucker punching the guy. that low down dirty dog. Belongs in the sewers away from civilized people.

Cortez should be fired forever from officiating.

Any way you slice it it did look like sucker punch.

So, you can talk semantics but it looks like a sucker punch/combo and for all intents and purposes it IS a sucker punch. One guy wasn't looking and the other whacked him = sucker punch.

Ortiz could have been thrown out for the headbutt though.

Disappointing end, especially to a Mayweather fight. He gets less slack than most fighters for stuff like this because he fights once every year-and-a-half.

Gesturing the fighters together does not indicate the action is to resume, it indicates the fighters are suppose to come together, which is what Ortiz did.

Either way, it was disgusting. The first hook, okay. You got even, I can understand that. Foul for foul, but then you took it up a notch, saw that Ortiz was unaware of your intention to resume the action, and uncorked a right hand on a man who was not only unprepared, but not even looking at you.

That is not only disgusting, but dangerous.
Yeah, a legitimate retaliation to somebody throwing their skull (by leaping, in mid-air mind you) into your mouth.

Kudos to you for caring so much about class, and the general well-being of a fighter.

                    Dip ****.

How can Cortez say that the fighters were active when he was looking over to check that the time was still being kept...
