Clearly Cortez was not watching what was happening and had no idea what was going on. But like i said before the fight, he is never the difference between winning and losing for a fighter. Protect yourself at all times!! All this mess could have been avoided if Ortiz wasn't being a little girl trying to hug and kiss Mayweather just for a headbutt.

Joe Cortez should have retired about 10 years ago. He's made so many bad mistakes in recent bouts that he's become an embarrassment to the sport. He's too slow, gets in the way of the fighters, and most importantly as we saw last night, doesn't even watch the frikkin fight!

I thought Mayweather looked good but nobody can argue with the fact he won with a very cheap shot. If Cortez had control of the fight it wouldn't have happened, or at least not controversially.

Get rid of Cortez before he ruins someone's career! Maybe get Larry Merchant to fight him in a career ending match? Winner carries on....loser has to retire! I'd buy the PPV for that!

A sucker punch indeed it was. A well deserved sucker punch retaliation? At least Floyd retaliated with something legal... Most guys would have headbutted him back, or done some other illegal tactic, what Floyd did was LEGAL... Cheap? Sure, but no more cheap than headbutting your opponent while he's on the ropes. Avoidable, absolutely... If Victor had his hands up (at least AFTER the FIRST punch) than he would have still been standing... You can't complain about a LEGAL retaliation to a blatant foul. That's honestly the best thing u can ask for.

People think that because Mayweather doesn't KO guys from one punch that he doesn't have power and forget that before he was a welter he had KO most of his opponents and KO'd Hatton with a left hook, then when they get in the ring they realize that he does have power and Ortiz, who was 164 btw felt Floyd's power tonight and that's why he was going backwards. Lesson learned: Floyd can punch...

stop trying to claim power on the basis of two undefended punches which Ortiz didn't even see coming, even Paulie Malignaggi could've downed Ortiz with two punches if he wasn't looking
