Hey, Bob Arum was promoting Miguel Cotto and Floyd Mayweather Jr at the time so if Bob says NO, Cotto is not ready for you Floyd, then that fight ain't happening. When did Hatton turn down a Cotto fight? Bob said that Cotto wasn't ready for Hatton in 05. Show me a link to an article where it says Hatton turned down a Cotto fight. That's news to me.

Arum never said Cotto was not ready for Hatton. Arum and Cotto wanted that fight ad they were willing to go to England to fight him.

if you guys remember your boxing history you'll recall a month after the bruceles fight cotto getting hurt badly against corley. THIS SCARED ARUM and the mayweather-cotto fight was put on hold... then a few months after that Cotto was again on ***** street vs c-level Ricardo Torres.

Arum wasn't going to put his next "Star" against PBF at that point.

so what? floyd got hurt bad by corley too, but the only difference is that cotto STOPPED corley and floyd didn't. also, torres put cotto on ***** street. sure. but torres wasn't some feather fisted fighter..he had like 28 wins 26 by ko and was undefeated when cotto fought and knocked him out in the 7th.

I`ve been telling people for years that Cotto is the one that ducked Floyd and i remember full well the crash test dummy Bruselles they used to test how would Cotto do against Floyd .After Floyd destroyed him,Cotto did not want a piece of Floyd and Top Rank knew putting Cotto in their with Floyd would be putting Cotto in their with a meat grinder.

lol...I remember this...I'm puertorican and a Cotto fan...at the time I remember in a local interview, Cotto admitted that he wasn't ready or at the level of Mayweather, which pissed me off cause he was a champion at the time. As a boricua I support puertorican fighters but I'm a boxing fan 1st, if you are a Champion you should take on all comers, same problem that I have w/ Canelo and Chavez Jr nowadays...they're the champions but not ready for certain competition, wtf!!!....pathetic...I criticized Cotto at that time. On the other hand, after the Judah fight Cotto did say that the fight that he wanted was Mayweather but Arum f/ucked that too!!! I wanted Cotto to win but knew he wouldn't beat May, style make fights, same reason that I got May over Manny!!!

This is no new news; Arum didn't want the Mayweather-Cotto fight, he also thought Floyd was leaving and to let him fight another possibly big fighter in his stable and put a defeat on his record before he left would be a no-no... and after Floyd left you could forget about that fight happening with the hate Floyd and Arum had for each other... But anyways, Cotto would't of stood much a chance in 2005 or even today, just a horrible match up for Cotto; Cotto is a B+ fighter in all seriousness

cotto wasn't ready at 140 lbs, the weight was making him weak and vulnerable. Cotto would've given wifebeater the best fight at 147 lbs... incidentally that's when wifebeater ducked cotto.

Ok, in the 2nd link Bob Arum said Miguel Cotto wanted the Hatton fight but Ricky was going to fight Kosta Tzsyu which makes perfect sense instead of fighting Miguel Cotto BUT AFTER the fight that's when Bob Arum said that Cotto wasn't ready for Mayweather and Hatton AFTER Floyd beat Gatti and Hatton beat Tsyzu. So once Arum saw what Hatton did to Kosta, he changed his mind about putting Cotto in the ring with Hatton. It's all right there homie. Your article was written in 2004 and Arum said no to Floyd/Ricky in 05. You basically just proved that Arum had Cotto duck Hatton too.

Yeah in 2005 when Cotto was still green and getting rocked by Corley. Not in 2007 when he was on a roll and considered the best WW and one of the best fighters period.

If Floyd was so interested in fighting Cotto in 2005, why not 2 years later? And to compare Bruseles to Cotto is ridiculous too.
