I'm not sure the weight made too much of a difference for Floyd against Oscar. But I see what you're saying. Hey look, aging and the slowing down process happens to every fighter. Floyd's day is soon coming. Whenever he touts his record I always remember that the only real undefeated fighter is Father Time (pending the outcome of Father Time vs. Hopkins).
An interesting obsevation concerning Floyd in the Mosley fight.

Yessir. Argh! This is what I hate about him taking so much time off - hard to tell where he's at physically. Which makes it even harder to call his fights. SMH.His legs aren't what they were in 2006 of course but I just think too much stock is put into Floyd's 'leg's being gone'.
I guess we just don't agree on Floyd's current condition and after Saturday we will have a good look on how it is and we can continue this from there.Comment

I certainly agree... you actually made a great point of what I'd always thought about dating back to the Marquez fight (don't quote me), but I remember Mayweather giving Roger a hard time because he always seemed to get winded. Even when they work the mitts now, it isn't nearly as fast, or crisp for that matter, as it once was.I'm not sure the weight made too much of a difference for Floyd against Oscar. The trainer is equally important as the fighter.Comment

Would be nice if it was done for every championship fight but what can you do? We live in an age where a lot of these guys are juicing so nothing surprises me anymore. In heavyweight boxing...forget it. Kudos to Floyd for raising the issue--would've never guessed it would've been him.Comment

Or maybe the move to 147 rejuvanated him? We're talking about his last 4 fights at 140, not just 1 or 2 Larry.
We're not discussing that guy,so pleas leave him outa this or kindly leave my tread thanks.Comment

Dazed, i also agree his reflexes have slowed somewhat, though i like the way he is moving atm, albeit i am judging this on his skipping
, which is much crisper and faster this time around than it was for the SSM fight imo. Hard to say, but i don't think this fight is going to answer the question because he will stand his ground and only rock back and step back slightly to counter when Ortiz lunges. Ortiz has a couple of fatal flaws in this fight:
1. He doesn't jab, so will find it hard to get inside against a guy who judges distance better than anyone currently fighting.
2. Ortiz lunges in with punches, against a guy who judges distance better than anyone currently fighting.
Floyd is going to lay traps and make Ortiz move into every power right he throws. IMO you're going to see two things from Floyd in this fight interchangeably.
1. He's going to stand his ground and when Ortiz opens up he's going to rock back or step back slightly, Ortiz is going to miss, then Floyd is going to counter
2. When he's not doing number one, he's going to use his reach and speed advantage to "get-off" first, then wait for Ortiz to open up to counter, then he will do # 1 again.Comment

Great analysis - can't argue with anything you said, man. I see him doing the same. i wonder how Ortiz will counter--or what he's been working on.Dazed, i also agree his reflexes have slowed somewhat, though i like the way he is moving atm, albeit i am judging this on his skipping

Even at 140, Floyd didn't used that much lateral movement like he has in the lower weight divisions. HBO's commentating crew pointed it out when Floyd fought Henry Bruseles.Comment
