Because it was across the FLESHY part of the eyebrow, it was deeper, and indeed looked much worse than it was. It still wasn't even close to the bone, like many cuts are. Especially with CLOSE-UP camera showing the trembling hands of Joe De Souza messing around with it in exactly the wrong direction, and using the WRONG hand. It was completely healed and INVISIBLE to camera 10 days after the fight. VK made a SPECIAL visit to the studios so that he could show everyone that it wasn't even visible, in fact wasn't serious, and that the fight should NOT have been stopped. It is those close-ups which have fuelled the huge controversy.
