Victor Ortiz -vs- Antonio Margarito Official Poll!

On NSB I'll take that as a complement. It doesn't take a genius to see that Margarito has not looked like the same fighter in the three fights after Cotto. Throw in the year off and the beating he took from Mosley and it's not uncommon for that to happen to any fighter. He is past his prime. And other than a round or two of some success, Margarito took a serious beating from Pacquiao in a one sided fight. The only impressive thing about him in that fight was his ability to take punches.



As for the prediction I never said anything about Ortiz simply knocking him out so I don't know where you got that from. I believe Ortiz would win a one sided decision over the much slower past prime Margarito. Better boxing skills and faster hands for ortiz.

I pick Ortiz too. One thing Ortiz has is violent power and it would take a lot less punches for Vic to do damage than it did Pacquiao. I picked Ortiz by decision but I lean more towards late stoppage. I find it odd that Margarito gets such props here. He's never been more than OK.

I thought Margarito was a good fighter in his prime. But I also think the purpose of this thread was to make the impression that Margarito(at this stage of his career) is a better challenge than Ortiz. He isn't. One fighter is young in his prime coming off his best career performance.The other is past prime coming in with two brutal losses in his last 3 fights. It's not hard to figure out who is the tougher challenge at this stage of their careers.

i don't see the same margs everyone on here claims. even though he looked horrible against pacquiao, he didn't look that good against the nobody he took a tuneup before that fight. he's always gonna have heart and will continue to come forward, but i don't think he has the power, speed, or skills to really put anyone like ortiz away anymore. i guess his fight with cotto will really let everyone know, cause against pacquiao, he was expected to get blown out like he did. right now though, i'll give the edge to ortiz cause he's younger, packs a good punch, and seems like he is determined to win here on out.

I actually like Cotto and enjoy watching Floyd but both have garbage fan bases.
