Also it's hard to judge how good Cotto is at this stage if your using the Mayo fight as a reference. Anyone would have looked amazing against Mayo at this stage.

Cotto is not shot, he's just not prime. He moves less, throws less punches and gets hit even more easily than he once did. He never was a great defensive fighter but his jab acted like defense for him for a long time.

He doesn't seem to throw the jab as effectively and as often as he once did.

He's probably not shot, but certainly past his best. People talk about his layoff, but are you forgetting what DLH did to Mayorga after an even longer layoff? This should not have been competitive at all. Mayorga had what, one fight in like two years before that?

Letting a 38 year old Mayorga put up a good fight against you, you're not that good of a fighter.

De La Hoya and Trinidad off their peak, knocked out a younger, stronger, fresher Ricardo Mayorga in 6-8 rounds respectively, back in 04-06, long time ago. If you're an elite fighter, you're not supposed to go 11 rounds with this version of Mayorga. That is why people also called Mosley shot and old, because he also took to long to take out a past prime Mayorga[which was in 2008, this is 2011 so imagine how much more faded Mayorga was], so they counted him out against Margarito.

I don't care if Cotto won every round and stopped him in the 12 round. I predicted a 6th round TKO for Cotto, and he took 6 more rounds to do it against that version of Mayorga, and let Mayorga have too many good moments in that fight. I thought Cotto was blow him out, like he was put there for. It wasn't supposed to be a competitive fight.
DLH and Tito were A LOT bigger than Cotto. That's a horrible example to use, Oscar couldn't make 147 anymore against Manny, Cotto can make the weigh with ease. Just about everyone on here says Cotto is too small for 154, but now he is shot because he STILL KO'd a guy who outweighed by about 20 pounds on fight night? Also and Tito and Oscar could KO people cold, Cotto has but not nearly as much as those two. He is just smaller than those guys, natural 154 pounders who could fight at MW compared to guy who is maxed out at 154. Give it up, he looked great in the fight he really cleaned up his defense and he stopped a lot of bad habits such as slouching down. We'll never get the Cotto that fought Mosley, especially up this high in weight but he is good enough to beat anyone at the weight with his boxing ability.

            What... the... ****...

Watch the Judah and Mosley fights and you hear Steward say multiple times he didn't use his jab enough then. In the Mayo fight he threw more jabs than he ever has and hand about a 40 or 50% connection rate, something like that. You have no clue what you are even talking about.

Mosley didn't look so good against Mayo and then he destroyed Cheato.

Mayorga look in better shape against Cotto than when he fought Mosley imo.

I have forgotten more about boxing than you know..

I never said anything about the Mayorga fight, can't you read you little **** stain?

I said he's not shot but he has done some things differently. Even if he threw more jabs in the Mayorga fight, I was referring to how he's changed from prime to now. He used to have one of the best jabs in boxing, incredible body work and attacked constantly.

He was much more laid back in the Mayorga fight, boxed more and allowed Mayorga to stick around a lot longer than he should have.
