Probably because people have a propensity to misuse the term "shot." Being past your prime is not synonymous with being shot. Shot fighters are shells of their former selves with eroded skill sets and reflexes. Fighters past their primes may be faded, but still capable of competing at a high level. Big difference.Comment

Cotto isn't shot IMHO, he's just still the same flawed fighter, Mayorga was so far past it he couldn't take advantage of it.
I like Cotto, he's all heart, has solid boxing skill and can use the ring pretty well, but he's there to be hit all night long. Marg will punish him again, but if he indeed has improved with Steward then maybe he can edge out the win. So far i haven't seen anything to show me that he wont be tagged at will by Marg, unless the Pac fight has left Marg in about the same shape as Mayorga is.Comment

People here love to throw " shot " Term all the time. You know who is a definition of a shot fighter? Roy jones jr. Now that's shot. When u getting koed left and right by bums. Cottos coming off 2 stoppage wins against albeit not great opposition but not complete bums aswell. Cotto is still capable of competing aginst the best I just think that he is too small for JMW. He is past prime for sure but shot? No not at all.Last edited by johncods; 08-19-2011, 09:01 AM.Comment

Cotto as always been vulnerable, its what makes him exciting.Hes always had the same problems, at 140 its because he was weight drained now its because hes shot. He can still compete with the best of them.Comment
