I would like to know why Martinez is considered overrated by some.

[QUOTE=Bushbaby;10953070]He sits atop a weak division. His last 3 fights were against the Punisher #3 pfp. The lineal middleweight champion, who was undefeated at that weight. The undefeated jr middleweight champion known for a monsterous jab, but was thoroughly outjabbed & kd'd what 5 times en route to a masterful performance/ko. if Martinez is overrated for that, what does that say about the following, real talk.

Clottey, biggest win Judah. Never shows up when it's time to deliver. Margarito for a 154 lb title after being brutaly ko'd, a year layoff & returned against some guy in Mexico. Mosley, clearly shot, old, but somehow managed to survive against the best fighter in the sport right? Finally a Marquez who's only previous visit to welterweight was a horrible outing that absolutely no real boxing fan respected from Floyd. By the standards that Martinez are judged by, wouldn't that make Pacman, king of a very weak welterweight division overrated too?[/QUOT

Because he is the biggest threat to both pacman and Floyd and their stans can't deal with it. He would kill PAC within 4 rounds and would ko Floyd within 8 rounds. Funny how PAC can fight boxers taller than Sergio and who walk around weighing more than Sergio yet can't fight Sergio!

Not two years ago, Mayweather and Manny have been there for longer than that and fought the best. Now, I would say its pretty slim but nothing like MW.

Not to mention guys like Khan and Bradley are moving up, WW has A LOT more going for it than MW. Again it may be difficult but if Sergio moved up to 168 in a STACKED division he would earn his status. But he's content fighting 25-1 underdogs and calling out WW's. So be it, but all of it combined doesn't equate to #3 P4P in my view.

He definitely has a solid little resume getting robbed of a draw with Cintron, KO'd Paul Williams, and beat up Pavlik who pretty was the lineal guy at middleweight. His last fight was a impressive performance as well.

Definitely a legit fighter, legit P4P, just not as high as Pac, Pac only gets special praise because hes been moving up crazy weight!

It's crazy how pavlik was the lineal mw champ and Sergio destroys him and now he is a drunk bum. Others argue that he should move up and fight SMW like bute and Kessler to name a few when manny cherry picks his fights when moving up and they praise him for it. Sergio fighting those SMW would be like if PAC were to fight Martinez or Williams at 154 instead of Margo at 150.

Please explaiN how he is over rated? PAC Floyd and jmm are all legit but why isn't Sergio? He is gonna beat this bum get his shot at destroying a hype job in Chavez jr then move up. Plus for the last two years other fighters have avoided him like the plague! Then promoters claim he isn't known and isn't a PPV draw well let me decipher that for u that means that he is just too good

calm down. he is over rated because hes rated above JMM. some people rate him number 1 or 2 which is overrating him.

hes beat williams who himself was overrated. he beat the 1 d pavlik also. not too much to shout about.

5th or 6th would be more accurate.

in my opnion yes, he is overranted, I considere him 8 or 9 in p4p list.
And nnow he said that if Froch win against Ward probably fight him, why Froch and no Ward?? because Froch's style is easy for boxing like Pavlik and Dzinziruk.
This is cherry pick. I am from Argentina I respect Maravilla, I work in gym with he, but there is a reality, today there are many fighters overrated as Khan, Canelo, Dirrell, Gamboa, Bradley, and me in particular I do not like boxers agan so great press says, not what shows up a ring

If Sergio is over rated then so is pacan Floyd. Neither have fought a guy at the top of their division or in pacs case ar the top of. The divisions since moving up yet he is ranked number one? And mr vacation number two? Really?
