The Way To Beat Mayweather

If you actually watched that fight, you'd know that Castillo didn't actually land that many punches. Compubox was scoring arm punches and low blows in clinches. Mayweather won it 7-4-1.Comment

Yeah, but Zab Judah is the master of that. I'm not entirely positive Mayweather "adapted" so much as class told over time.I believe it was against Judah, where Floyd was down by three or four rounds. Floyd then made the adjustments to win the fight.
The thing is, when fighting Floyd you also have to be prepared for his adjustments; not just yours.
Floyd is a very intelligent fighter, and a handful to deal with for anyone.
I think fronting is the key to adapting to him or anyone like him. How many fights have you watched where the aggressive guy throws, the slick guy ducks, and then the aggressive guy falls inside and gets tied up? How many times do you wanna yell at the TV 'STOP THROWING ON THE FIRST PUNCH!!!' during those?
If you look like you're throwing a right hand Floyd is going to do what he's trained to do. He doesn't react with reflexes. He doesn't stand there and make sure it's really coming. Whatever Marquez landed he landed by not really throwing a few shots, letting Floyd get where Marquez wanted him, and throwing THAT punch. He just also got hit too much and didn't have threatening power.Comment

castillo troubled floyd because he didnt rush in. he cut the ring and waited for floyd to punch first. he countered the counter puncher but then used volume punches when he was trapped. Pac can definitely do this and more effectively than castillo, he just needs to be disciplined.Comment

Only problem is Uncle Bob's got a tight kung fu grip on his balls and won't let him get in the ring with Floyd to prove that.castillo troubled floyd because he didnt rush in. he cut the ring and waited for floyd to punch first. he countered the counter puncher but then used volume punches when he was trapped. lol the Castillo fight was back in 2002...as if Mayweather did improve as a fighter, as if he didn't study that fight and worked on his flaws, others have tried to pressure him, Hatton was all over Mayweather for the first 4-5 Rounds, then once Mayweather opened up his offense and started throwing punches back and him, Hatton had no answer
all this "PRESSURE HIM" blah blah blah, that is EASIER SAID THEN DONE, people go in with a gameplan but then once they get hit...THINGS CHANGE COMPLETE, or you go in thinking your going to be the aggressor and your going to be chasing him down and he end up coming forward and popping you in the face with punches and countering everything you throw at him, then when you do swing back your missing him and swinging at air
I understand some people just want to see him lose SO BAD which is fine but let not talk as if beating Mayweather is "EASY" because your KIDDING YOUSELVESLast edited by sicko; 07-28-2011, 01:50 PM.Comment
