It's a shame that FIGHTS themselves (and by proxy the participants) can't be inducted to the IBHOF because the Gatti-Ward trilogy deserves a special place in boxing history. Micky Ward was a lot like Gatti, maybe (like Gatti) he didn't have all the wins, or the titles, or the skill level, but that man fought like Champion every time he went out there and gave boxing some amazing fights and fought like warrior, he was involved in three (consecutive) Ring magazine Fight of the Year fights if I recall correctly, that alone should merit IBHOF consideration, IMO. Hopefully, if they put Gatti in the IBHOF, Ward will be asked to accept the award in his honor. That would be awesome.

Ward & Gatti were involved in three & four Ring Magazine Fights of the Year, respectively.

          Two against eachother...

IMO, they BOTH belong in the IBHOF.

RIP but no he doesn't. He belongs in the New Jersey sports HOF but not the boxing HOF. He had great fights but two average fighters combining for 3 of the best fights ever does not make either HOF worthy.

It would be cool if they each donated a pair of gloves and the HOF put something up about the trilogy with ward.

All due respect, but Gatti proved he was anything but "average"

Same w/ Ward, they don't make movies about "average" fighters....

I'm sorry because I MUST be missing something. What did Gatti contribute to boxing? A blueprint of how to eat punches for years and more years? It's one thing to say his fights were exciting but another to say he contributed to be in the IBHOF.

In the words of Mayweather...."getting busted up isn't fun". A lot of people are overeacting because he is dead. RIP

But he is an average fighter at best. Yes he had great moments and a legendary trilogy. Thats why you put his gloves and Wrads gloves from one of the fights in the HOF and then detail the trilogy.

But Arturo Gatti simply doesn't belong in the HOF for his boxing.
