Floyd got droped by Judah and won a decision, Cotto finished him off. Quintana was the Undefeated WBA welterweight campion when Cotto beat him. Just stop with the margicheato garbage. The guy needed bricks to beat down Cotto. Clottey can't even finish Cotto off with one eye. Manny is a crybaby crying about catchweights.

um it was the "vacant WBA World welterweight title"

    • My mistake. Quintana beat Williams after the Cotto fight and won the WBO title. Was thinking that fight was before the Cotto fight.

That's bull****. Cotto himself stated that he didn't believe that Margarito used loaded gloves against him. There is only one fight in which Margarito has been caught cheating. Peasants like you want to now claim that every fight Antonio won should be overturned. You're failed. Was Pacquiao wearing bricks to beat Cotto's asss too? Give it a rest.

Clottey did enough to make Cotto use low blows and body slams! That simply means that Clottey was good enough to make sure that Cotto could not win within the rules of boxing! Cotto was a bum then, and he's a bum now.

That beating Cotto took from Margarito has damaged him for life. He's never been the same. Not that he was that impressive before that as Demarcus Corley was putting a shining to his asss. Cotto has been knocked down by Ricardo Torres, and rocked in three different rounds in that fight. By Torres????

LOL ... yeah, that's elite. Hahahahaha.

Belts to me are the gayest aspect of the sport... I could care less who has 15 belts. I find the belts actually ruin the sport. Let the top 2 current p4p badasses ALWAYS fight one another and the sport will be elevated.

Boxers should NEVER have been allowed to "choose" who they will fight. Choosing is WEAK. Boxing needs a system wherein the commission dictates who you fight or you lose by default and go back to 10th place in the rankings until you prove you have BALLS. Cherry-picking and "belts" are overrated in a gladiator sport. The fans know who the badass is belt or not.

Have you ever looked a fckin belt??? It's costume worthy BS.

They should do away with them completely. One champion and under them divisional leaders, ie. Americas, Europe, Asia, as first pick for contenders... It would mean so much more if everyone fell under the same divisional rankings...

how many wins does Cotto have over great fighters?

he has struggled vs c class & sub par guys that are decent but not elite...when he got in with elite fighters he got his ass handed to him..what will be the excuse when Margarito beats him the same way again?

boxing is a business first...sport 2nd. Yeah yeah belts dont mean anything then why does every boxer throughout history aim to get one or some? Looks its no coincidence that for 10 years Miguel Cotto only fought for vacant titles against lames.....Top Rank has the so called BEST MATCHMAKER in boxing, Bruce Trampler....why would he only put his fighter in Vacant title fights?>....well because usually if its a vacant title fight you arent goin up against the top 3 guys in that division most likely...then you can win a title vs a clown and claim you are a champ with a title to try to bargain/position yourself for $$$$$. They used cottos PR fan base and his vacant title wins as a front like he was some great champion

His best win was a close decision vs Mosley who just dropped down in weight from 154 lbs. then 8 months later he was getting pummeled vs Margarito...a guy Mosley obliterated. Cotto has only beat guys for Vacant belts because his skill level isnt on par with ELITE fighters. Just cause a guy is in battles and has heart doesnt make him an elite fighter....im sorry

wtf is wrong with this ******? yes cotto won vacant titles att 140 and 147, should that be his problem? BUT, he defended it multiple times and against fighters superior to floyd's opponents.

Nothing changes the fact that Cotto has fought every Welterweight that's mattered in the last several years besides Berto and Mayweather. He fought in what was considered the hot bed of Boxing between 2007-2009 with guys like Margarito, Clottey, Cotto, Mosley, and Pacquiao all fighting one another, except guess who. Of course, Mayweather's fans are quick to jump to defend him, but at least speaking for myself, I've never discredited Mayweather's ability in the ring because he's a special fighter. But are we supposed to ignore the fact that he sat on the sidelines when the Welterweight division was at a fever pitch? Who here would'nt have salivated over a Margarito vs Mayweather match or Cotto vs Mayweather? We can talk about the business side of things all day, but some of the best fighters in history, though were heavily paid, are still remembered for the guys they've fought. Floyd's a HOF no question, but the last several years of his career has been one more of being an entertainer outside the ring than putting on memorable performances in the ring against the sport's best. Win or lose, Cotto's fought the best of the best and still only has 2 losses.
