You save that **** for after the fight not during the fight. Sky sports=HBO
yea, i think thats why a lot of my international friends cant stand the commentating in american boxing. they think its wayyyy too biased. same thing they say about the commentating on espn when it comes to soccer. lol, they arent wrong. i argue with them tho because im opposed to brits ****ting on the us.

merchant is a commentator. i wanna hear that, not him hating on fighters he finds boring. thats opinion, we all have our own. spouting urs on the air instead of talking about whats relevant doesnt sit well with me. and it only seems to be boxing commentators who really do that on a consistent basis, which is pretty funny.
Umm...No...Actually the point was that even guys he likes he would criticize..Because, get this...He calls it like he sees it.

That's all you can ask for from a commentator. Instead of somebody who would sugar coat it or not go hard on fighter because he's with the network

"instead of what talking about what's relevant"? Early in the fight. Lampley said something to the effect that Haye landed a solid punch. Merchant said it didn't and then went on saying that didn't land either, that didn't land either. And, you know what? Larry those punches were not landing clearly. And, when one did he said that one landed.

I guess him saying correcting and pointing out missed/landed punches is irrelevant

Larry is obviously a HUGE fan of Pac.

Why doesn't Larry pound questions down manny's throat on why he won't take the test??

I have yet to see a post fight interview of Larry asking Manny any real questions regarding PED's and the "speculation" around the topic.

This is what I'm talking about when it comes to Merchant.

He has no problem ****ting on Floyd, Roy, Haye, Hopkins, LENNOX LEWIS (see the Lewis-Vitali post fight interview). BIASED!!

actually if i rememebr correctly, he didnt always like the vlad. he may like him more than he likes a buncha other heavys, but im still not sold on him liking vlad or the current heavyweight scene. and ur right he calls it like HE sees it. meaning not everyone else sees it the same. ppl have their own opinions, id rather my commentatorsa be as devoid of obvious preferences as possible.

and i dont at all have a problem with him pointing out a missed punch, thats his job. thats not an opinion its a fact. nothing at all wrong with that. but ill tell u this, if almost any commentator in any other sport had said that watching a sporting event they commentate on was a waste of their time, they wouldnt have a job.

im a huge nyy fan, and i watch the yes network religiously being from the bronx in all. but if everytime i watch a game i have to listen to michael kay **** on the other team and talk about how they suck at hitting home runs or their pitchers cant pitch id lose a heap of respect for the yankees organization ive followed since birth. i wanna hear what the other team is good at, what their strengths are, weaknesses are, what strategies they are employing. the personal opinion crap is better left for the opinion piece writers, thats what reflection is for.

I like Larry, he can't go one telecast without giving you a great quote.

Like the latest, regarding Haye's flopping, saying, "This is turning into a Flop-House".

Now if you don't know what Flop-house means, go look up the definition and you will get a chuckle out of it.

Duh, because everyone knows the real reason is because Manny is superstitious and doesn't like his blood drained before a fight. He put that blame on the Morales fight, and thats exactly why Floyd asked for ost.

He knows Manny is superstitious. They should do the tests right after the fight. No point in doing it before it other than to get a mental edge over your opponent. Not like hgh/steroids magically disappear from your system.

Larry is just plain racist. I gotta say it. It's no other way around it.

Don't really care for his commentary he sounds like he has throat cancer and he speaks too slowly. Time for him to retire and pass the mic to a younger, abler man.

Yea that sounds like something a racist would say.

Larry Merchant doesn't hide his bias.

Which is what makes him so great.

He doesn't pretend to be unbiased as is the case with other commentators like Max, Lewis, Atlas, Foreman.

After watching thousands of fights, Merchant puts himself in the seat of every casual fan whose only demand is an exciting and entertaining fight.

He is therefore biased towards the more exciting fighter.
