How Does Martinez Matchup In These 10 Big Fights?

Also please take into account the words behind the names
1- Sturm
Martinez KO Sturm
2- Kirkland
I dunno how good Kirkland can be and how shot he is now. The version that got KO'd by Ishida would be KO'd quick.
3- Winky out of retirment
Easy Sergio UD
4-Pirog
all signs point to a Sergio win, not sure if by decision or KO
5- Cotto
late stoppage win for Sergio
6- Abraham if he's about 90% of what he was
Sergio takes it because his angles would confuse Abraham. Even in his prime Abraham was limited, he just never fought the fighter to expose him.
7-Taylor if he's about 80% of what he was
Why not 100%? If it's 100% we might have a competitive fight, otherwise I'm inclined to say Sergio again
8-Williams
Already seen this fight
9-Pac at 154
Sergio by stoppage. Pac is a welterweight not a light middleweight
10-Floyd at 154
Mayweather wins by decisionComment

He beats them all (by KO) except for Floyd.
But a prime Winky would probably beat Martinez by UD.
And Floyd beats Martinez by UD.Comment

1- Sturm
Haven't watched Sturm fight in a looooong time. I have no idea.
2- Kirkland
Knocks out Kirkland.
3- Winky out of retirment
It'd be a fun fight at MW. Winky is clearly past it though.
4-Pirog
Based on his last fight can't judge.
5- Cotto
Destroys Cotto. Makes it look easy.
6- Abraham if he's about 90% of what he was
......Abraham has never been finished right? Well there's a first time for everything.
7-Taylor if he's about 80% of what he was
Taylor wins.
8-Williams
If Williams improves on his defense, we'll see.
9-Pac at 154
If you're looking for Pac to get KOed this is the perfect fight for you!
10-Floyd at 154
Floyd wins. Martinez has problems with men that know how to throw that straight right.Comment

I actually think Floyd would take the fight. I wouldn't have thought that a little while ago but I believe now, yes. I suspect that if he gets by Ortiz impressively, and isn't able to land a big fight, he may look toward Sergio. It's a longshot however, because of the high risk. The reward would have to be just as great.
Dont get it twisted, I too think Sergio is a beast and he's on fire right now so he's going to be hell for anyone but I still see Floyd catching him with those low hands. He's definitely smart and I give him way more credit for dominating Dzinziruk then most do. That was highly impressive to me. He's a smart skilled fighter and Sergio made him look like a dumb amature. Ill tell you what though, Ill give anything to see him & Floyd. Infact, Id rather see that then a Pac fightComment

I want to see it and if there's no Pac I think it will happen. If he can get 30-40 mil for Ortiz then he can get the same for a showdown with Serg.
What was so special about Dizzy. I still dont get it. He was under sized and slow. Anybody with those characteristics loses to Martinez. But I do like Sergio and think he only loses to FLoyd and possibly Williams by decision. I see everyone counting Pac out but like somebody else mentioned Serg keeps his hands low and speed can capitalize on that everytime. Floyd punishes him with rights and Manny gives him a good go too (though he probably loses a clear decision to Martinez).
IN a nutshell, he's a 'rangier' version of Sturm fighting out of a more difficult stance. Hence the reason I beleive sturm is a cake walk for Sergio. Dizzy is better than Sturm IMO or atleast poses more of an issue just by being a southpaw and being as tall as he is.
The big plus though, was how sergio outjabbed the jabber. people who followed Dizzy can make a serious ase for him having the best jab in the sport. Sergio completely ruinned it.. and with his hands down at that. I personally don't think FLoyd throws enough punches to make sergio pay for dropping his hands.
I like that sergio doesn't just counter, but he punches WITH his opponent whilst slipping. All of this spells trouble for floyd since sergio doesn't slip first then punch.. but instead usually slips and punches all in 1. Floyd not being a combination puncher.. would seriously have a harder time than you guys think landing leather on sergio. he can see '1' punch coming pretty well.Last edited by intoccabile; 07-06-2011, 04:22 AM.Comment
