If Mayweather beats Ortiz, which he should do, then I say it puts him in the driving seat to win the PR battle if he does things right.

Floyd biggest problem is how he conducts himself and speaks, he is skittish and all over the place and needs some coaching on public talking because he easily offends and alienates by picking and choosing the wrong words and saying things at the wrong time.

If he can beat Ortiz and put on a charm offensive with the USA press and get them on his side, then Manny is in deep deep water regarding the honesty & integrity of his legacy because if he refuses to do OST when the mainstream press are all over him too, then i'm afraid however great he is (and I think he is an excellent fighter btw) his legacy will always be tainted.

Floyd will go down as the clean athlete of his generation that beat some good young champions. Manny will go down as possibly the greatest in his generation but with a great big question mark hanging all over his career even 50 years after he has died.......all because of a few blood tests.

What you got to hid Manny? I think a lot personally, but would love to be proved wrong.

No he wouldn't. In fact, most people would crow that he was never serious about it to begin with. But given what's occured over the past year and change, it's quite obvious he's dead serious about it.

Oscar was loved because he had the skills and personality and that very rarely comes together.

Let me give you another analogy, Floyd is like the prettiest girl at the prom and she knows she's the prettiest. She is constantly telling you she is the prettiest and how all the boys want to dance with her.

She tells you that her dress is the prettiest and the most expensive. She tells you she rode in the nicest limousine and her corset is the best.

After a while, she becomes ugly to you, because no matter how beautiful she really is, it's her attitude that turns people off to her. That's Floyd, the prettiest girl at the prom and all he does is repeat it to you over and over.

Also, you need to understand that perception of a fighter is based on how the avg joe relates to him. Guys like blue collar fighters, because they can relate to them. The like humble guys who prove themselves in the ring and let the writers and fans talk about them.

Floyd runs around flaunting money, thousands of dollars and the avg man doesn't identify with that. Floyd says over and over that legacy, the sport and it's history don't mean ****, what matters is MONEY.

That's why he isn't more liked because truth be told, Mayweather was smarter, with his good looks, smile and ability...he could have been bigger than DLH if he would have played his cards right.

              excellent work....

and evander made plenty of money being a nice guy........

what both you and chaut are forgetting is floyd's style is not exactly crowd pleasing. He had to create a way to get big bucks for his style.

good thread but pac fans don't wanna look the truth in the eye they rather pac to keep fighting top rank bumms and pretend nothing is happening but the truth is arum is playing them big time..they're the ones paying for the fights. The lawsuit is not there because they're mad about what floyd has to say..the lawsuit is there to protect pac..bob arum is a sneaky man.

Yeah, that's what we all thought. Apparently only one of them wasn't worried about facing any penalty for breaking one of those stipulations.
