I'd rather Floyd keep beating fighters not on the tail end of their careers. If Cotto does something like unify at 154 or beat Pac in a rematch then it would be worth it. But it wouldn't be worth it legacy or money wise.

Sort of, although there are better fights out there for both. Financially though, it makes all the sense in the world.

Mayweather vs Cotto has to happen before both retire.
I think Cotto has alot left.

Margarito cheated him and Pacquiao hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Anyway Cotto had 2 losses. It's not like he is Roy jones or something.

Why do people call you shot just because you had a few losses.

Was Pacquaio shot after being knocked out twice and beat by Morales?

Unfortunately, Cotto has been damaged goods since the Margarito fight. Let's break down who Cotto has beat since the Margarito fight. Jennings (Please), Clottey (Clottey loses all his big fights and arguably beat Cotto), Foreman (Probably his best win of the bunch but Yuri is FAR from elite, Mayorga (Lol). This doesn't look like a guy who can compete with elite fighters anymore to me. I think most must only say that a Cotto Mayweather fight interests them so they could bash Floyd, there's no point. I'm a huge Floyd fan but I'd be pissed if he signed to fight Cotto! Floyd is better than that, Ortiz is a MUCH better opponent.
How is Ortiz a much better opponent? Have you seen his fights before the overrated hype job Berto? I think at this point the fight doesnt mean nearly as much as it would have 4 years ago when Mayweather avoided the fight but it still would be better or at least just as good as Ortiz Mayweather.

For those of you voting yes, are you voting yes just so you can **** on Floyd for fighting Cotto? If not, state your case.

I will surely watch a Cotto/Mayweather fight and I think Cotto has a chance of pulling an upset. Cotto has still a lot to offer and counting him out is just plain dumb.

What has Cotto done since losing to Margarito? Ortiz is a better opponent than Cotto because he's in his prime and isn't shot. Ortiz is young, hungry, and has moment from the biggest win of his career. Btw, Victor's win over Berto is better than anything that Cotto has done since losing to Margarito.

Cotto has to prove himself again by actually beating someone of merit before he becomes anything more than a tuneup for Mayweather. Yuri Foreman wasn't ever elite, Mayorga was way over the hill, and antonio is probably shot. Cotto's 3 victims are as traumatized as manny's last 3 victims. These top pranksters are predators.
