A 20 year old titlist who just fought the no.1 contender in his first defence. I could understand your point if 5 defences down the line he's still fighting the Matthew Hatton's of the sport, but Rhodes is a legitimate opponent for your first defence of a title. You're simply embarrassing yourself now.

Who here is making it out to be a "GREAT" victory over a "mighty" opponent? All people are saying is that it was a good performance against a reasonably solid opponent, who was ultimately outgunned and outclassed by the bigger, fresher fighter. Which is exactly what it was.

the WBC loves you...you would have been ok if it was Jamie Moore instead of Rhodes because he would have been the #1 contender

            Rhodes
            Hatton
            N'Dou
            Baldomir

                I agree.

I would like to see him step up to world level now considering he was literally given a world title in one of the most shameless ways I have ever seen in my lifetime.

Against an Angulo or a K9 or I don't know just a higher level at this point. Considering he holds a title now.

But, Rhodes, atleast was a step up from Matthew Hatton and is one of, if not the best fighter he has fought to this date. A solid fighter who earned his title shot going through eliminators etc to get it. And, I was simply responding to your claim that Rhodes is featherfisted, something he simply is not.

But I do agree that it's about time Canelo stepped up now because the last 2 fighters he has fought were simply out of his league.

Hatton, I was strongly against. Rhodes, I'm ok with, for now. As long as he steps up from here.

I'm a fan of boxing, so yeah, I'm ok with a guy like Rhodes getting his final shot at a title. I'm disappointed in his performance, but I wasn't expecting him win anyhow. Outside of Hatton, who only ever got the fight thanks to his name, those are respectable enough opponents for a 20 year old fighter. Forget how many fights he's had; he's a young fighter being groomed for great things, and he's slowly but steadily being stepped up in competition. Now after displaying how far above the likes of Rhodes he is, it's definitely time to step him up again, perhaps against somebody like Angulo, Chavez or even Cotto, in the unlikely event that Arum would even consider those last two fights.

Out of interest, who should Alvarez have been fighting instead of Rhodes? And try to keep it realistic.

i'll admit that i downplayed Rhodes' power because it was never on display in the fight...an outgunned opponent who forgot to bring his gun, it didn't matter to me what he's done in the past..i saw nothing from the guy last night

Matt Hatton was at least trying but didn't have the pop...this guy Rhodes, as you guys say, had the pop but wasn't trying...its been one or the other

get me someone that will try and has pop...doesn't seem like a big request

everyone boasts of Canelo's advanced composure, patience, ring IQ...how he's 'mature' beyond his years, and i agree...that's why enough of the babying bull****...this kids needs to take it to the next level...we're not talkin about Chavez Jr here...we've got a bon-a-fide star in the making and these sparring sessions on HBO arent doing anything for me

First of all the way Alvarez won the title was a joke. His level of comp before fighting for the tile was blah at best. And, him being so young was the excuse. But, now winning the title the age can not be used as an excuse anymore. He's a titlist and that it. Saying that, I thought fighting Rhodes on his first defense was good. It was a legit fight and step up for him. Because, again his level of comp before Rhodes was not good. Fighting Mayorga next if that happens that would be a joke to me. He would deserve major criticism for taking such fight.
