That's a really dumb way to assess a fighter's punching power. Forgetting the fact that Alvarez got caught very early against Cotto, Rhodes didn't put his punches together in a way that allowed him to make any impression on Canelo. The little he did land, he landed in single shots, and more often than not he didn't seem to throw with full conviction for fear of what was coming back. Cotto caught Canelo early, who was being a bit reckless in that first round. He was far from reckless against Rhodes.

Incidentally, Juan Diaz took Katsidis' punches well, but he was rocked by a shot from Malignaggi. So by your rationale, this means that Katsidis must have no power whatsoever.

I have seen so many comments about Saul Alvarez only fighting "Eurobums" where has this obsession come from? He's fought 30 odd fights and only about 3 have been European. And if people are worried about him fighting only hand picked opposition, whats the relevance of their nationality? Would it be OK if he fought Ameribums or Mexibums?

Rhodes isn't the best fighter in the world and although Top 10 at 154 he was certainly out his league with Canelo. But, he isn't feather fisted.

Before you ask, I have been watching him since 1995.

if a fighter has shown 'decent' power against mediocre opposition but cant/wont use it in the biggest spotlight, then he might as well be featherfisted

I'm not even a big Canelo fan moron, I can just see what your blinded hatred won't allow you to. He's a 20 year old work in progress, it's not his fault he's this popular and the spotlight is already on him.
