barker's a fool for taking this fight at this time.... surely someone should advise him to wait.... get a string of victories together, now he's back from hip surgery....

barker is a solid fighter.ive seen several of his fights including his trip to edmonton.barker is at the top of the euro level but sergio martinez is one of the best 10 fighters in the world right now.i see a beating coming for barker.

so dibella is basically doing what arum is doing for his fighters..matching them up against an opponent he knows he can beat until he cashes out..he aint gettin pac cotto or floyd..he should look up instead of down..and dibella says pirog is a nobody really meaning its a dangerous fight..compared to cotto pac and mayweather..martinez is a nobody..arum was right..dibella had a fighter with a spark and is letting that flame burn out

I realize this Barker fella isn't world class, but, I wouldn't be surprised if he defeated Sergio. The only people who believe Sergio is some unstoppable beast are the Sergio stans, as such, I doubt it would be shocking to those with even minor knowledge on the sport of boxing if he were to get stopped by Barker.

why is there two threads for this crap? horrible move by dibella. rubio, n'jikam, pirog, even geale are way better opponents, even though dibella said geale wasn't available, i don't buy it...barker is not ready for this, he needs to gather up better wins to be considered imo...this sucks

Come on. Sergio's proven himself against fighters in an entirely different league than what Barker has apparently ever shown himself to be. Unless you are telling me Barker is in the same class as Cintron, Pavlik, Williams, and Dzinziruk, you're just talking sh**.

No, that is what happens when you actually are a beast, and you actually do clean out a division.

Martinez beat the lineal champ, and the #1 contender.

Manny has NEVER fought the #1 welter, and even recently ducked the #3.

Even Mayflower fought the #1 twice, #2 once, #3 once.

nah, i think Dzinziruk was a good win. Dzin would beat almost anyone from the middleweight division. Ring even moved Martinez over Nonito in their p4p ratings right after the fight. Darron Barker is a **** fight though.

Dzin was a decent win but it was a win against a guy unproven at middleweight no less. I would favor PWill & Pirog over Dzin and Angulo over him at 154. I would agree with u if we are talkin JMW but at 160 I don't see Dzin running through the division and being ahead of the top contendors. As for people thinking Barker is a challenge he might be but besides decent skills and an undefeated prospect record do you really think he is ready to be competitive against the #2-3 P4P fighter? the guy is a legit MW atleast and not a fighter coming up but there won't be any excuse for another questionable defense the next time around.

why doesnt he just move up to 168 and stay and campaign there? Better fights in that division and definitely better $$$, besides, he's not really that small compared to them.

Barker(6'1) imo, i could be wrong. Or maybe DiBella is giving Sergio a "gimme" fight? I dont know too much about the guy....

It's not because he's unknown, it's because he's never fought anyone remotely close to being world class. It's easy to look good if you only fight bums. Martinez hasn't fought a single true Middleweight since winning the title, despite being the lineal champion. He should be fighting Sturm, or at least a Ring top 5 Middleweight, not a totally unproven fighter like Barker.

Even Pirog would be a better fight. I completely agree that Pirog is green as ***, and clearly not ready for Martinez..... but ***it, the kid wants to fight, and he is a better opponent than Barker.
