Let us not get into a debate as to who is the better fighter between Cotto and Ortiz. We can go back and forth but that can only be proven in the ring. Just go back to my reasons for the fight and show why any of those would not be valid.

Your saying it brings money, OK, understandable...but whats in it for the fans?
Cotto is the #1 JMW. He does not have a belt for nothing. You seem to agree that this fight will bring in the money, so why will the fans pay for it there is nothing for them to expect?

I agree with poster above.. Ortiz brings more to the table than Cotto does now
Ortiz brings more to the table? How?

ship sailed long time ago on this fight
          Floyd shouldn't do it now
he didn't have the balls to do it when it mattered

they're still around the same weight class. cotto is still a top fighter.

agreed....and it may very well happen. After Ortiz (apart from Pac) who could Floyd fight at 47 that is a money maker. Cotto is the only one that fits the bill. It could happen at 47 or 54.

It is not too late. The conditions now are somewhat different. Cotto is now the #1 JMW and has a belt and definitely a better prize for FMJ than Ortiz and his WW title. And how can anyone be sure that it will not be a competitive fight just because of Cotto's losses to Pac and Marg when FMJ has fought none of these three? Do we just rely on fantasy fights? The only way to find out is in the ring.

No need, Floyd will destroy Cotto now.

Another convenient excuse not to fight.

I maybe a little bit dense. I cannot get the sense of your comment.
