Oscar chose to be by Khans side that night and not Victors (which I found a little interesting considering GBP originally hyped Ortiz as the next ODLH) and announced he was giving him a new 5 (?) fight deal. Some people say that's no big deal, but I thought it was kinda telling.
Maybe Oscar isn't as dumb as he sounds

I don't understand why some people are unhappy with Mayweather fighting Ortiz... Victor is powerful, southpaw, fast, just like Pacquiao... I am optimistic that if floyd beat Ortiz and Manny beat Marquez, the next step will be Pacquiao-Mayweather!!!

this is said too offen but styles makes fights, and this on will be one of mayweathers most exiting fights, if victor can bring the energy he brought against berto.

Well I don't know about that...

It just seems like Oscar would have chosen to be with Ortiz, to show his support of Victor for arguably his most important fight - instead he chose to be with Khan who was fighting what was considered a tune-up in his own backyard and had plenty of support. But it seems like since the way the whole Ortiz/Maidana fight went down that Oscar didn't want Victor to be the "new" ODLH anymore Some people say that it was only because he wanted to announce the new deal of Khans at the press conference, and that it wasn't a big deal. To me, it says a lot more.

You're prob right. Well they've written off Victor again in pitting him against Floyd. Would be funny if he scored the upset.

This is a good fight, a bit better than Pac-Marquez (since Marquez has to go up to 140+) and I do believe this fight is a stepping stone to a Pacquiao showdown later on.

Oscar was at one fight, and Schaefer was the the other. Plus, Ortiz was the big underdog; I, along wit most, thought Berto would win the fight; and Khan was gettin ready to beat McCloskey then fight bRadley (which Bradley ducked, but thats another topic), so I def understand y Oscar was at Khan's fight.

That being said, anyone criticizn Floyd will obviously criticze him no matter what he does. Pac was signed for Marquez III, and Arum didnt even try to mkae the fight wit Floyd this time (not that floyd wudve accepted it now).
Regardless, PAc is signed, and if May was gonna fight anyone before 2012, Ortiz is the best choice. Who else is there at welterweight? Cotto is at 154, and please, don't giv me Martinez. I hate people who criticize a fighter for not wanting to move up in weight class. Mayweather is a weltrwt (and not a very big one at that) To criticize him for not wantn to fight the middlewt champ is utterly ridiculous.
So, at weltrwt, Ortiz is by far the best choice. Who else is there? Bradley? Ortiz is bigger and stronger than Bradley. Plus, Bradley does not deserve a big fight aftr duckin Khan (again, another topic).
Ortiz is a great choice. All we can hope for is that it leads to the 1 suprfight the world wants: Pac vs. Money in May 2012!!!

u know, it's funny. If I know May will fight PAc in the spring, then Im rootin for May, bc Id rather see the superfight we've been waitin almost 3 yrs for. But, if Floyd is just comn back to pick up a 30 million $ check, wit the intent of sittin on the sidelines for another year - year and half, then I'd definitely want Ortiz.
B/c if Ortiz won, there's no way Arum could try to talk his way out of PAc-Ortiz (although I'm sure Mayweather has a rematch clause in there)
