First off ive listened to rome since i was in Elem school and havent missed a show in 7 years. I'm a die hard clone. To the people saying he's just a ESPN bobblehead are plain ******. His show has been on radio forever and he actually competes vs espn radio. Second Rome say's he likes boxing but honestly he doesn't follow it except for the big fights. If Floyd fought Sergio he would be killing it as well. Rome likes to rip people then change his mind the next day. The only thing he does for boxing is kill it and then say, Hey I love boxing. Well that and b hop interviews along with roach. People need to stop being controlled by the media. All they are, are a bunch of guys that went to broadcasting school or majored in English. I listen to rome because he's the funniest guy on earth not because of his opinions

I totally agree dude... Rome strikes me as a small guy, who got picked on a lot in school as a kid, so he moved away from everyone he knew, and started acting like an overly opinionated hardass to divert people from the obvious truth that he probably has a tiny ****.

Anyway, I understand the criticism for Floyd not fighting Manny, but I don't understand this Ortiz fight causing any more criticism than there was before. I mean, Manny is already fighting Marquez when this fight was made, and to be honest, there didn't seem to be any effort on either side to make the fight this time around. Not saying it's Top Rank's fault for not trying, considering it has been done before and they are probably frustrated as hell, but I don't understand those that picked this as the prime time to start tearing Floyd apart.

lmfaaooo @ the emotionally hurt *****s in this thread trying to marginalize jim rome as some "talking bobble head" from espn. once again, ****tional *****s showing their true ignorance & ******ity. they dont know who the **** jim rome truly is. jim rome is relatively a new espn commodity. he's been on the underground sports scene for a long time & has paid his dues & is basically the sporting hybrid version of howard stern & rush limbaugh.

his influence & stature in mainstream sports & hardcore fans is that relevant. He's been following boxing for awhile. i remember him talking about chavez sr. camacho fights, oscar vs vargas fights, hopkins fights etc. etc. etc...

Rome is a made man in the sports world; confirmed & verified. really lmfaoo at the young bucks in this thread trying to dismiss jim rome's knowledge of the sport historically & current event wise & doing so with the sensibilities of a **** vermeil during his teen age angst years....

Now that Floyd is coming back, all of a sudden, he cares about boxing. Whether Rome buys the Mayweather/Ortiz fight or not, it will still sell over 1 million PPVs, which will be about 500,000 more than the Pac/Mosley fight sold.
Rome has covered all the Pacquiao fights over the last 2 years including Clottey.

Ive heard him interview the Klitschko brothers, Joe Calzaghe, Lennox Lewis, Larry Merchant, Roach, and just a few weeks ago he said BHOP was the 2nd best interview in the History of his program. So yes, the guy knows a lot more about boxing than the average talking head.

Definitely the first two names I think of for those universally respected for the accuracy and wisdom of the content on their shows.

Exactly!!! But if it's Tessatore, Atlas and Charlie Steiner (remember him)...then I'll listen. But these Idiots on PTI or Rome. Please...you may as well listen to Regis & Kelly talk about Boxing!!!

next best fight at Welter, I mean it was clear bob had no intention to have Pac fight Floyd after mosley, just look how fast he put the Marquez trilogy together

Mosley and Clottey was a shiet fight. Happy???

And I am pretty sure this one will be a one sided beat down. I mean who the hell is picking Ortiz to win or even stand a chance for that matter.

Dont get me wrong Ortiz is a solid fighter "after" beating Berto but he only had 1 fight @ WW and with his lack of defense, is not even going to be a competitive fight against someone like floyd.

If you want to buy it go ahead, nobody gives a shiet.
