What's good for one is good for the other. According to this guy's logic Pac shouldn't be picking on a smaller guy. I keep hearing Martinez should fight 168's or Bhop, but how exactly could that happen next fight even if he wanted it to? Bhop has a contractually obligated fight with Dawson next, Bute has a 3 fight contract with Showtime while Martinez is with HBO, and the SM tourny is still holding up the other attractive opponents at 168. The only one I see he could possibly fight right now is Direll, and I don't have a clue where he has disappeared to at this point since running scared from Ward.
Do me a favor, grab a calculator and plug in each fighters' weights on weigh-ins and fight nights, use those plus and minus signs and you'll magically know what EVERYONE already does... that Manny is very small for a WW... i mean all you have to do is look at the glaring size differences... sure he carries the weight well, but damn he aint that much bigger than JMM.

and FYI Hopkins isn't contractually obligated to fight anyone... he had mentioned that he wanted to fight Dawson if he beats Pascal... the fight was not signed right after the pascal fight... sergio could have called him out then... besides, can you tell me when it's ever stopped a fighter from calling out other fighters due to contractual obligations? i mean damn, Pac has a fight right now and everyone and their mothers is callin him out... and Arum's in-house policy is more stringent than any network obligations and people still be callin pac out... come on get off it, Martinez won't call out bigger fighters because someone just might take him up on it... and he doesnt want that. plain. simple.

Sergio isn't exactly a big MW either, and yet he should move up to 175 to fight Bhop even though he just moved up from 154? What available 168 would you like him to fight right now? Direll? Abraham? Green? None of those are good fights that would make him any money or really earn him that much credit. The 168's worth fighting at this point are tied up in the tournament or with Showtime fight contracts. So really who that is available in the next couple of months should he be trying to fight?

there's your point, it won;t make him any money... he's not trying to build his legacy, he's trying to get paid... and i don't agree with another point of yours... if he beats Dirrell, Abraham, and Green, he pretty much becomes #1 P4P in my book... what hardcore boxing fan wouldnt give him credit for those wins????? Dirrell is undefeated in my book, and Arthur Abraham is a beast at his natural weight class (middleweight)... If he's looking to build his legacy, he'd fight these guys... much like pacquiao and floyd fought bigger guys... Pacquiao is a natural lightweight fighting @ welterweight... if you look at his frame as compared to the other welters, you'd see he looks more like JMMs size than berto, or even ortiz who just moved up.

Martinez is looking at the wrong places to enhance his legacy... if he's doing it for the money, then just say it... don;t pretend like you're doing it because you want to be the best... if he wants to be the best, he'll challenge himself against bigger, better guys.

So according to this joke of writer, instead of challenging fellow middleweight fighter, he should go up in weight in order to fight ward who probably tight up at least till year, or a guy who barely made the light-heavy-weight limit

So this is how absurd this site has became, where a fighter can't even challenge another guy in his own division (i.e. Chavez). The moment that Chavez got pushed for a tittle fight, is the moment that Chavez became a legitimate target for Martinez

Either Chavez is not ready for a fighter like Martinez and as such shouldn't fight for the WBC belt, or he is

I don't really care for this attempt by Martinez to get either Pac or Floyd into a ring, but with Chavez, its put up or shut up, I've had enough of these apologist here and their BS excuses

for all I care he could (after wining it) give it up and go back fighting cab-drivers, but

Chavez (with a WBC belt) is a legitimate target for Martinez

I enjoy his calls to Boxing Truth but I swear to god this guy should not be allowed to write articles for boxing scene. His pieces on Martinez are always obvious smear campaigns to defend Pacquiao's choice to ignore Martinez's challenge.

Pacquiao fought Margarito, who's just as big as Martinez, FOR MARTINEZ'S 154 TITLE.

This website is getting downright ridiculous if they're going to keep posting such disgustingly biased articles. Marley is not a boxing writer anymore, he's a Pacquiao publicist and his bull**** doesn't belong in the news section.

Right, Pacquiao fought marg at 150 lbs, came in almost 20 lbs lighter on fight night, and pretty much took shots that would've broken down any normal WW, let alone someone who's actually a lightweight fighting at WW... he realized AND admitted that he's too small to be competing at the weight, and vacated the title... i don't see anything wrong with that...

Take these points: 1) Martinez is now bigger than Margarito, that is a fact... if he IS the same size as Marg, and he refuses to make 150, then there you go, he doesn't want the fight... how you gonna call out someone who's THAT much smaller than you? 2) Just go up and fight someone who's 17 lbs bigger, see how easy it is... the fact that he wont even go in there with someone who'd only outweigh him by 10lbs shows that he's not willing to challenge himself in the same manner that pac has.

For those of you who didn't already know, Marley's a certified ******* (and a bad writer at that imo)... much the same way fighthype is a certified ***** site.

Martinez did just move up a year ago from 154 to face Paul Williams, and if the Chavez fight happens (it won't), it will be at 154 as well. Just because Martinez won't let himself be weight drained doesn't mean he's "too big."

You can't have you cake and eat it too. Pac has fought garbage opposition the past few years, and every viable opponent is met with an excuse. "He's too big." "He's now a draw"

You talk about Martinez being too big for Pac, how about Pacquiao being unwilling to face Marquez again without having him come up two weight classes?
