Dana White: UFC Is Now Bigger Than Boxing & WWE Combined

It's in their contract that they get a percentage of the ppv-revenue.
GSP himself said last year he is set for life, and can live a very comfortable lifestyle.Comment

No i'm not. Prove it. You don't know anything about boxing you're just a worthless MMA fan. You really think boxing doesn't have several cards in countries per day? I'm talking about sanctioned and unsanctioned, everything combined. Because all of that forms the totality of boxing since boxing is not one unified organization (league) like UFC, therefore to encompass the totality of BOXING you must count EVERY.SINGLE. card and fight. And there are hundreds in the world that you will never hear about. You are a total moron if you think otherwise.
Boxing generates in the hundreds of millions $$$ more per year than MMA. This is factComment

Yeah, noone watches UFC. Thats why they bank 500k + in ppv sales monthly (and sometimes bi-weekly) with their biggest cards getting 1 million+.
"My sport", yeah i guess you could call it that. I love boxing more though, just wish they had a better way of getting the big fights done.Comment

Yea their biggest cards getting 1.2 million whereas boxing's biggest get closer to 2-3 million. LOL what a joke. Boxing owns your pathetic "league"Yeah, noone watches UFC. Thats why they bank 500k + in ppv sales monthly (and sometimes bi-weekly) with their biggest cards getting 1 million+.

lol.. what you describe as their "leather helmet" stage can't even be considered mma. It was organized streetfighting performed by mostly horrible athletes. It was a spectacle.
James Toney vs Couture was a big fight? Really?
Gina Carrano, while popular for a female fighter, was never considered a star in mma. There was some interest, but meh.
Kimbo lol.. i guess he was a phenomenon, but it was mostly a circus.
You are right about Silva, and i think GSP is a bigger name in the US than any boxer currently fighting not named Manny or Floyd.
Brock Lesnar is also a big mainstream name.
The thing about UFC also is that the brand itself sells. People tune in to watch UFC, because of their brand and their work hyping up the fights.
Which model is that? The olympics?
I think their model is just fine. 24/7 style documentaries for the biggest fights, a reality show developing new talents and a hype-show for every single card.
lmfaaoo,
now you are trying to deny gina carano's star power before she got exposed? not only that, you are denying randy cotoure vs james toney was a much hyped event? everybody was on that fight & it was basically the headlined event as if its some form of verification that mma/ufc is better than boxing.
another thing, brock lesnar is not mainstream in terms of REAL SPORTS. Sure he's a big star in the wwe/mma, but in terms of actual organized major sports in america, he is a nobody.
& the fact that kimbo slice was used as some guinea pig when his fight was broadcast on cbs just make your sport a big ass joke. How can somebody so unproven be used to sell to the mainstream?
as for UFC being a brand people tune in to? your sport is even in big trouble. the NFL is a brand that is augmented by top level elite talent in every position in almost every team. They have stars galore & a juggernaut factory machine in producing talent (college football) year in year out. The UFC/MMA does not.
as for boxing's model? the olympics, the amateur program, & boxing history & reach take care of that. When you make it to the top in boxing, you are a proven product. Complete opposite in UFC/MMA.
You will never see a superstar in boxing get beaten by a journey man with pink hair.Comment

man so true you are owning this moron...lmfaaoo,

"Everybody was on that fight" what? Not really?lmfaaoo,
now you are trying to deny gina carano's star power before she got exposed? not only that, you are denying randy cotoure vs james toney was a much hyped event? everybody was on that fight & it was basically the headlined event as if its some form of verification that mma/ufc is better than boxing.
It was only big in boxingcircles. The ppv-numbers didn't do very well for having BJ Penn and Couture on it.
http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2010/9/2/...imates-for-ufc
And then why do millions turn in to watch him fight, let alone pay almost $60 for it?another thing, brock lesnar is not mainstream in terms of REAL SPORTS. Sure he's a big star in the wwe/mma, but in terms of actual organized major sports in america, he is a nobody.
Hes not as big a star as Floyd for sure, but when Floyd retires, who in boxing will be?
I would say that is more telling about how CBS ****ed up. EliteXC was a sham and a corrupt organisation who NEVER had any bigtime success.& the fact that kimbo slice was used as some guinea pig when his fight was broadcast on cbs just make your sport a big ass joke. How can somebody so unproven be used to sell to the mainstream?
It was folded day after Kimbo lost, and is seen as a laugingstock in the mma world.
Kimbo was a big "star" before he even knew what mma was. Thank youtube and the internet for that.
Noone is comparing UFC to nfl. It's not even close.as for UFC being a brand people tune in to? your sport is even in big trouble. the NFL is a brand that is augmented by top level elite talent in every position in almost every team. They have stars galore & a juggernaut factory machine in producing talent (college football) year in year out. The UFC/MMA does not.
UFC does just fine developing talent. They have managed to build cards that actually builds names unlike boxing with its shameful missmatches outside of the maincard.
Many of the most popular UFC-fighters are still under 30, and they have quite a few in their early twenties that is already close to a title.
I agree that the olympics is great for boxing.as for boxing's model? the olympics, the amateur program, & boxing history & reach take care of that. When you make it to the top in boxing, you are a proven product. Complete opposite in UFC/MMA.
It's sad that the professional circuit is so ****ed up with all It's greedy promoters, competing networks and lack of interest for the future.
I have no idea what this is aimed for.You will never see a superstar in boxing get beaten by a journey man with pink hair.Comment
