Yeah, man...terrible. It's bad enough that Wilfred got the shaft, but the Argentinean government wouldn't let him leave. Can't imagine what might've happened there. I mean, this was a famous boxer who was in the country for a bout, not some "Joe Schmoe". Unless he was suspected of a crime, something should've been worked out quickly. Now "El Radar", one of the greatest PR boxers of all time, lives off a $200 a month WBC pension.

I cant even imagine that happening now in days to a Boxer or any athlete who traveled over seas. Dude was held there against his will like he was a ****ing criminal. Smfh! Idk why the hell it took so long to get him outta there. And that part about the 200 pension is just sad man. My ****ing directv cable bill is 200 dollars. To think that's what he lives off of is horrible.

Putting down Gomez actually denigrates Sanchez's win. You have to acknowledge "Bazooka's" greatness in order to glorify Salvador. Sanchez was a truly great fighter. It takes a champion of that magnitude to vanquish another great fighter like Wilfredo Gomez. Awesome achievement.

That really puts it in perspective.

I wouldn't be surprised if the house Wilfred lives in is paid for, or if he receives financial help from friends and relatives. But all the money in the world won't bring back his health. Poor guy is in bad shape.

The people that think the Salido fight should've gone longer aren't considering JuanMa's future health. Boxing can damage lives. It's hurt many more lives than we're even aware of.

It's too bad that Carlos Ortiz seems to be forgotten among Puerto Rican boxing fans. He was a great champion, someone to be proud of. Trinidad is the most recent Boricua great, so it's natural that many will think very highly of him. Benitez was known more for his supernatural ability and defensive wizardry. The more powerful punchers tend to inspire awe, but Wilfred was a special boxer. He's semi-forgotten, a fact made even sadder by the knowledge that he's in bad financial and medical shape.
No doubt. He is one of the best Rican champions of all time.

For me he is #4 at Lightweight of all time above the likes of Whitaker, Williams, Armstrong, Canzoneri, Buchanan etc etc etc

That's how highly I rate him.

I wasn't talking about u. You said that was his biggest acomplishment in boxing so u are acknowledging how great that win was over a great champion. I was talking about the boxingscene trolls. Your not a troll, u just roll with the trolls sometimes. Lol.

I hope he isn't suffering man. That's the worst to see. Boxing is a brutal sport. Fans demand Boxers to fight like "warriors" no matter what, blood and guts but its easy to demand that from your couch. Fighting for a living is no joke. What's crazy is there is SO many Boxers who fight for bull**** money just to put food on the table. Its really sad cuz usually those guys end up with brain damage and never even had six figure pay day.
